Dooley Should Make An Example Of Wilcox.

There was a report saying he was trying to hire the ace recruiter out of Cal...i forget his name

Edit: Tosh Lupoi is the guy's name. He was rated the nation's best recruiter by Rivals. He coaches Cals d-line

saw a Tweet about this last night

Anybody can tweet about anything, anybody at any time any where. Why would we believe anything based on a tweet. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

First, a little anecdote. Mick Cronin was an assistant to Bob Huggins at Cincinnati. He decided he needed to broaden his resume to get a head coaching job. To that end, he interviewed with Rick Pitino at Louisville without telling Huggs. He got the job. When he told Huggs he had gotten the job, Huggs smiled and told him "Congratulations. Good thing you got the job there because you weren't going to have one here anymore." If Wilcox is talking to Texas and contacting assistants at other schools about joining him in Austin, he should be fired immediately.

This would be a great strategy if we didnt want to hire any asssistant coaches in the future with any potential or ambition.

Not to mention, Mick Cronin went on to coach at Louisville and is now the head coach at Cincinnati. It's not like Huggins threats really served any purpose besides boosting his own ego.

I agree 10000% percent . I'm sick of "one and done" coaches. Get em out of my state and out of our locker room.

You do not come to Tennessee for one year and then take the "Grass is greener" aproach and take another job.

Tennessee is not a stepping stone football program in the college ranks. We have the best facilities, the best conference, and the best fans.

If a first year coach is even looking around, get rid of them. I want coaches who come to Tennessee who want to be at Tennessee, not to mention Coaches who fulfill their contracts and its terms.:rtfm:

Yep potential and ambition go hand in hand with duplicity.

Obviously Dooley would like for these guys to eventually get better jobs and get promoted to higher position because that would mean he had a successful program. I doubt he has any problem with Wilcox interviewing elsewhere but if the guy is doing it behind Dooley's back and trying to assemble a staff that is quite another issue. I didn't find Hat's point that hard to follow but I'm always amazed at the stupidity of some on this board. I guess we should be happy for everyone to start polishing up their resumes and making inquiries for better jobs at the end of every season?

If this is fact I agree. We don't need any half-hearted coaches around.

Leaving now would be really hurt our bowl preparations.

Leaving after the bowl game wouldn't be much better if he's distracted during our bowl practices.

One little problem here....comparing Dooley to Huggins (prestige wise) is like comparing Scarlett Johanssan to Phyllis Diller. He had hard enough time hiring a DC the first time. It's not like people are lining up to learn from the master.

Here is how the rumors keep circulating: VolQuest--->BearTerritory--->VolNation--->OrangeBloods--->ESPN--->VolNation--->OrangeBloods--->VolQuest--->ESPN--->BearTerritory.....it goes on and on and on in no particular order. It's just my opinion, but I would bet money that Dooley knows exactly what has or has not happened in this situation. If Wilcox has been doing this behind Dooley's back, I'm certain he would be shown the door. Dooley did say he didn't care if other schools requested permission to speak to assistants or not, but that is totally different from Wilcox SUPPOSEDLY attempting to assemble a staff for another school. We should all just relax. Texas is home for the holidays, the Vols are preparing for the Music City Bowl, Christmas is five days away, and it's a recruiting dead period for the next couple of weeks.

Hat,

Lot's of opinions on here, but the only one that matters is Dooleys. Coaches talk all the time to each other after the season ends. He also stated he prefered a heads up if a coach want's to speak with an assistant, but he's OK if they don't. He doesn't feel the need to police the process. No reason to fire...everyones open to seek other employment. He's taking the stance this is a fantastic place to coach, and if someone want's to leave, he's got a line of coaches to fill the void.

Here's another opinion...I love his approach!

How come Wilcox hasnt came out and made a statement either way ? If he is going behind DD back and doing this then he needs to be fired.Id rather have Shannon as a def. cord. any day.

Keeping quite may net a few more $$ on his salary. Pretty good move on his part if he is trolling for a raise.

Does anybody even know if Wilcox is actually on Brown's list - long or short - for DC?

This seems to be a bunch of wailing and gnashing of teeth over an internet rumor and there are a hundred posts on a thread about making an example of him.

What the heck are y'all actually fired up about?

Go drink some eggnog or go caroling... sheesh!
