Dooley Should Make An Example Of Wilcox.

Yeah, I don't know anything about the coaching business. I'm sure your contacts in that arena vastly outweigh mine.

I don't know who yours are, but I like mine better.

All you have to do is look at the Boston College situation a couple years ago to see that canning someone for looking at jobs is kind of lame.

And after that little incident, BC had a hell of a time finding a head coach and hasn't been the same since.

If Wilcox is interested in Texas, he's let Dooley know. Just because he isn't playing those cards in the media doesn't mean Dooley hasn't been kept up to date by Wilcox and/or Texas.

Where is a credible resource reporting that Wilcox is assembling a staff for someone else?
I'm sure the reports coming out of Berkeley are just out of left field. I bet somebody just picked a name out of a hat to associate with Wilcox.

So the reports are as follows: (Correct me if I am wrong) Wilcox is not getting along with our staff, TX is intrested in Wilcox, Wilcox is going after Lupoi to join him at TX...right?? I dont think that he did a bad job this year, nor was I blown away with his scheme though. I would like to see what he could do with a few years under his belt, but if everything is true above, especially him and the staff getting not getting along and if he is seeking out Lupoi, then adios amigo.

Tennessee, Mike Hamilton more specifically, has got to put a wrench in the revolving door that has become our beloved program. The only way to stop it is to get out the ol checkbook. We are, from what I saw, about to have the most incredible facilities that any NFL team would be jealous of. Our house is the Cathedral to southern football. Our fanbase can be second to none when energized. And a good group of young talent to boot. So lets get it done Mike Hamiliton, or he is the guy who needs to be fired as well! Far too fine of a program to allow the crap that has been going on for the past few years...sick of it!

Good Post.

So, more innuendo and rumors, right? No credible reporters out there putting their name to the story right?

I respect that decision in your life but this has nothing do with Wilcox. 1. Wilcox doesn't have a family of his own 2. Wilcox would be making more money while being somewhere that is easier to recruit and less competition (that is if he goes there which I dont think he will).

I was really referring to UT IE 95's response.

As to your points:

Even if Wilcox had a family, he's not going to use the same criteria as the general public when trying to come to a decision. Unless, of course, his goal is to own the largest house, the nicest cars, and the most toys.

This is jmo, but The SEC is >> Big 12 (or is it "10" now?) now.

Seems to match up with what insiders from the Texas side were hearing as well. Wilcox had made contact with Tosh Lopoi at Cal to round out the defensive staff at Texas with him.

I wouldn't be opposed to an ultimatum or demanding an immediate answer/choice if this is true.

Wilcox is an Oregon Duck afterall...........GET A ROPE!

I've searched and searched but haven't found any information coming out of Cal apart from the speculation by the Rivals site that Lupoi could be in play, regardless of who gets the job.

When I have an employee sign a contract I expect him/her to fulfill those terms. There is nothing disloyal about getting a better job. In fact, I train, mentor, and prepare employees to get better jobs. That’s the primary role of any leader.

Wilcox is rumored to be looking at another offer. He'd be a fool not to, yet people on this board are flying off the handle and calling for his firing.

Being disloyal and foregoing integrity involve things like calling recruits and asking them to back out of offers last minute and faxing playbooks to the other team.

The employee-employer relationship is a two way street. If an employee is too important to lose you better make sure he/she never entertains other offers by making sure they will never find a better job. Otherwise you better expect good employees to be recruited, receive employment offers, and occasionally leave for a better job.

Firing someone on the front end for entertaining other offers is petty and reeks of being pathetic.

Dooley is handling this absolutely correctly. He states he knows nothing, but is quick to assure that if people leave they will be easily replaced. End of story.

I agree.

Dead on.

First, a little anecdote. Mick Cronin was an assistant to Bob Huggins at Cincinnati. He decided he needed to broaden his resume to get a head coaching job. To that end, he interviewed with Rick Pitino at Louisville without telling Huggs. He got the job. When he told Huggs he had gotten the job, Huggs smiled and told him "Congratulations. Good thing you got the job there because you weren't going to have one here anymore." If Wilcox is talking to Texas and contacting assistants at other schools about joining him in Austin, he should be fired immediately.

ive said it before and ill say it again....dont believe anything you hear or read and only 1/2 of what you see

Must be no business people in this crowd.Welcome to the real world it happens all the time except in real world your boss finds out and you are probably gone but college athletics this happens every minute of everyday. If Texas offers him more money explain why Wilcox should stay.We live in a world of greed. If the price is right the word WHORE comes to mind.I would rather have a staff that people wanted than a bunch of deadbeats nobody wants.By the way anybody heard how mant offers Fulmer has had lately. The end.

People were always bent out of shape that noone used to come after Fulmer staff members because they wanted to stay here. Now they have their wish and people are coming after our assistants and its suddenly the end of the world and we should disassociate anyone that even considers another job. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, it seems.

Just proves people will literally complain about anything.

I read somewhere, can't remember source, that Texas wasn't making any announcements until after the bowl games. If Wilcox is leaving, would Dooley know beforehand and still want Wilcox to coach during the bowl game? I wouldn't think so.

Haven't you heard? Wilcox is assembling the Texas staff while he's at the complex preparing for the MCB, all while pulling the wool over Dooley's eyes. It's an outrage.

Dooley probably wants to keep stories as low-key as possible till after the bowl game. This is a bad time for rumor and speculation. Gotta focus on NC! GBO
