Dooley Should Make An Example Of Wilcox.

If Wilcox is talking to Texas and contacting assistants at other schools about joining him in Austin, he should be fired immediately.

Agree! If he is contacting prospective assistants for the Texas job that mean he isn't happy as a Vol coach and doesn't want his UT job any longer. The sun shouldn't set this afternoon with him being a UT employee.

300K is not much nor was his salary. I have no problem matching to keep but I think the whole relationship is now tainted since he is considering.

I agree completely with Hat. GTFO now!

His salary was $600k, that's more than Chavis ever saw at UT. That salary put's him around 5th in the conference among DC, which is probably a little above where he belongs to be honest. I'd venture to guess that salary places him amongst the top 20 highest paid assistants period, in the country.

I'm pretty sure Hat has never had a thread where people are on his side. I also agree, if he's creepin' around behind CDD back and contacting other coaches, he's got to go. However, if he's been straight up with him, I see no problem with it. It's funny how the "real world" and the coaching world are so different. Most people wouldn't tell their employer that they're looking for another job because they wouldn't want to get fired.

I agree, but everything is pure speculation. I am not sure what to believe, but if Wilcox stays, great! If not, we move on and possibly open up the checkbook a little more and ensure we find a guy that will stay here.

If reports coming out of Austin are true, he would be a complete idiot to walk into that mess.

Why would someone board a listing ship? Maybe(?) Wilcox does not have the complete picture of where things stand at Texas...Hmmmm, sound familiar? :loco: ....Why would a Georgia Dawg leave the Head Coach in waiting position at Texas to return to Gainesville and the Gators whom he had previously spurned? So many questions, so few answers. :)

IF Wilcox makes a lateral move, he could be singing, "You don't what you've got (til it's gone)"...: :hi:

First, a little anecdote. Mick Cronin was an assistant to Bob Huggins at Cincinnati. He decided he needed to broaden his resume to get a head coaching job. To that end, he interviewed with Rick Pitino at Louisville without telling Huggs. He got the job. When he told Huggs he had gotten the job, Huggs smiled and told him "Congratulations. Good thing you got the job there because you weren't going to have one here anymore." If Wilcox is talking to Texas and contacting assistants at other schools about joining him in Austin, he should be fired immediately.

What complete schizophrenia. You condemn coaches who don't publicly seek and leak offers from other schools as evidence they are failures; you condemn coaches who do publicly seek and leak offers from other schools as evidence they are disloyal. You'd fire them both, which means you wouldn't have any coaches on your staff. Congratulations for the most extraordinary double-standard yet pronounced on this board.

I'd have a hard time with that. We know these kinds of conversations happen all the time.

Precisely. What kind of coach is going to come to Tennessee when he knows a) he'll be fired if he keeps his options open on the marketplace but also b) loyalty will be interpreted as incompetence?

My respect for Dooley would instantly skyrocket if he did exactly that.

So you had great respect for Al Davis who put Kiffin on a short leash after Kiffin secretly sought every collegiate HC job he could, including Arkansas, during Kiffin's stay at Oakland, right?

You all are a bunch of paranoid freaks! No one here, has a clue what is going on. It's all a bunch of speculative BS at this point, so why are you all jumping on the Fire Wilcox Bandwagon?

How do the rumors get started? No one knows 100% if MB has even contacted JW or not. I was wondering how a persons name gets attached to a coaching job. Does someone w/i the program leak the info or is that person seen having a conversation with the hiring coach? How does this all come about with names associated with potential openings? Also, what is it about JW that is so enticing at this point in his career?

As far as I am concerned it doesnt matter if he stays or goes. We will get another good DC to replace him if he leaves. CDD is the main guy and I feel he has got things going in the right direction. I like his leadership.

A source close to the situation admitted someone at NC started the rumors to distract the team from the game next week.
