Dooley should be done!

He's not going anywhere. You guys are wasting your time. Folks who know what they're talking about (LWS, DeerPark, etc) have said he's here until at least the end of next season and the only way he's fired after next year is if UT only wins 4-5 games.

If he wins six games next year, and isn't fired, then we have a bunch of idiots in the athletic department.

The only way Dooley is fired is if he wins less than 8 games next year, or if he wins 8 but gets blown out in the other 4. It will not happen before then.

Mother of all lists for head coaching job; with my two cents tossed in…

Just 25 names that have been mentioned in the last 48 hours

I am sure some of the names are misspelled. Please forgive me.

1) Bob Stoops – Not interested unless the offer is over $7 million/per year. Can’t afford him.
2) Gary Patterson – Not sure he is worth the $5-6 million it would take to get him.
3) Chris Peterson – Boise State guy. Happy where he is. Bad fit in south because of religion.
4) Jim Trussel – Excess baggage
5) Phil Fulmer – Excess
6) John Chavis – No head coaching experience
7) Kevin Sumlin - Small college
8) Trooper Taylor – No head coaching or coordinator experience.
9) Kirby Smartt – Too ‘smartt’ to get involved with this mess
10) Jim Treadwell – Small college
11) Jeff Fisher – Too big for job
12) Jack Del Rio – Maybe…not a great coach
13) Tony Dungy – No interest
14) Jon Gruden – No interest
15) Bill Cowher – No interest
16) Jerry Sandusky – Too much interest
17) Jim Caldwell – I like him and he will be available in about five weeks
18) Kevin Steele – No head coaching experience
19) Houston Nutt – Too old and no recent success
20) Tommy Tuberville – Too old
21) June Jones – Too old
22) Mike Leach – Crazier than my Uncle Bob who lives in the attic
23) Charlie Weis – The town ain’t big enough for him….(literally)
24) Mike Gundy – At $2.1 million, currently underpaid. Hard to pull away from OSU where he played.
25) Charlie Strong – Not as hot of name as he once was

Kevin Steele was HC of Baylor. Jim Caldwell would be horrible choice imo

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Good point on Kevin Steele.

Yeah, you called my bluff. To be honest, not sure about Caldwell. Thought he might be a ticket to get Peyton back in the mix.

F it, Stoops makes 4.3 million.

Offer the guy 6.5 and complete control over the football program.

Done.

If Peyton DID retire, and DID want to coach, the best plan would be Fulmer or Cut as HC with Peyton as QB coach. Not many HC would want Peyton on staff at UT or would work well with him. Peyton would be the eventual HC. Having said all that, I don't know if it would be best and don't think it will ever happen. I like Steele, not sure he'd be HC material again.

If Peyton did decide to wanna coach why not make him HC?? I know "no experience" but he's sort of OC for Indy and thats enough for me. I am certain he could bring a staff that could give everyone the awe factor.

Been thinkin about Peyton being our coach for a long time and I don't think anyone on this board would not want him HC, but he may love that booth or big table in front of those camera's on Sunday when he hangs up, thats what I'm worried about.

Come on home Peyton.

Bring out the check book and lets move on now, apology accepted!!! We may disagree at times but love all Vols fans!!!!

Go Vols!!!!

You do realize that firing him now would give UT another $1 million in buyout payments over the $1.5 million they owe Fulmer for another year, right? You do know that if they did what you think should be done and coughed up $4 million + for the next guy that UT would effectively be paying around $7 million for the HC position.

I am sorry but that is wishful thinking on your part. The ONLY WAY that happens is if a bunch of fans pool the money together to cover those buy out AND part of the new HC's salary. In short, no apology is necessary since this is almost certain not to happen.

Dave Hart worked with the best FB coach ever, Bobby @ FSU. He knows what to do whether it's Gruden, Dungy or Chavis, let's just beat those slimey lizard bastards of UF. I'm tired of watching better high school in Florida and lower Alabama than the BIG ORANGE can play.

AD Hart is way too quiet for something not to be happening in the background. It has been more than 24 hours and crickets.

I will accept an apology from all those that ridiculed me after the GA game when I said why wait til next year when we can see on the field that CDD is not the long term answer at UT. We finished last in the SEC East and the SEC East is horrible!

CDD was a cut rate hire who can't scheme his way to one win versus a ranked team and loses to a horrible UK team that only passed for 15 yards? Seriously Dool-Aid drinkers?

CDD is not going to get fired this season/next season. maybe after 3 years.

DD is going nowhere for at least a year. No AD in his right mind would waste time and miss opportunities while the coaching carousel goes round and round. If he were going to be fired it would have already happened. 7 or more regular season wins next year gets him another year IMO.

7 wins gets him another year????? Are you joking????? He will have to win at least 10 to even think about keeping him for a 4th season.
Sorry but if you go to espn3.com and skip to 20:35 of the kentucky replay, well hearing that is all I needed to hear to know that he is NOT the guy for Tennessee. He told the sideline reporter that he wasn't talking about the streak with the team because is added to much anxiety for the team that has been winning. Yah a guy thats just gonna blow off THE STREAK and the motivation it could have brought, is not a guy I want coaching my team. This team needed all the motivation it could get and yet again Dooley just luls the team to sleep with his BS, and then runs to the media to continue to tell them that were just not a good team, yah that's what will get these kids thinking like winners!!
IF he gets to stay another season, he better get at least 10 wins and the couple of losses better be ultra competitive. Heck if he gets blown out in a single game next year they should fire him immediately. Im tired of all these people here being content that we are DEAD LAST in the WORST division in our conference and saying that an 8 win season would be a great season. WE ARE TENNESSEE, 8 wins is a crap season and I won't EVER get used to being mediocre. We had the talent this year to be MUCH more competitive and instead of showing improvement, we regressed, we got worse as the season went on. This guy is a proven LOSER as a HC, when will you people get it that he will NEVER be a great coach. What will it take for you idiots to finally admit he's nothing but a loser??? When were 2-10 and our program has lost all respect, won;t have a shot at any decent coach and won't wanna be touched by any good recruits.
Vanderbilt had LESS talent and was more competitive than we were, another year and a couple of healthy players won't change much, we'll still be coached by the same guy and the results will be pretty much the same, if not worse!!!!

Hey negavols and negadoolys if dooley is fired who do you think or who do you want as coach.sure the ut job would be a better job because of the talent level than it was when kiffen and dooley where hired.but still who do you want or think we could get,we sure wouldnt be going foward if he gets canned.we would lose alot of our recruits and some current players unless we got a big time hire and thats alot less likely than ut winning sec east next year.

Cool story, man.

He gets next year and if he gets at least 8 wins next year he will get another. Why would you only give a guy 2 years and then cut him loose. Doesn't make sense.
