There already were "misses" in the 2010 class:

John Brown - DNQ
Dave Clark - DNQ
Marcques Dixon - DNQ
Eddrick Lofton - DNQ

Of the 22 remaining, they are mostly too young to fully evaluate.

Loften is going to be here in January.

They're redshirting Meline. He still needs some work. Is he going to be a CB or a S?

I watched his highlight reel during the recuiting process and was very excited about him. I haven't seen him play much at all lately so I really can't support my opinion. But, like I said, I watch football but I don't watch football players who haven't played. So cheer up buttercup.

Exactly bro, that's Rex's point. Why would he be starting next year if you've yet to see him play?..

Any player you get out of Hoover is going to be a well coached, and good athlete.

Totally agree on this. However, think of the brilliant recruiting done by CDD and CLT on Propst. They have officially gotten in good with Hoover now and Coach Propst, who develops solid talent every year. I'm sure the relationship was already there with Coach Propst and CLT from the Hoover/Bama days. Very solid scheming done on Propst last year.

Well he played some last year but got hurt. My point was that he was a stud in high school and I would figure he'd be a starter by his junior year. I hadn't seen Poole get PT before this year either.

Coach Probst is no longer the coach at Hoover. He resigned 2-3 years ago amid some rough allegations.

I think one thing that could really help with recruiting this year and next is turmoil at other schools. Richt, Miles on the hot seat. Meyer "semi-retiring" again. Saban getting another offer to head to the NFL could all effect recruiting this year and next. Players know were UT sits, at the bottom but with a lot of potential to move up to SEC/National Championship caliber in a couple of years.

It is a sobering reminder of how far our program has fallen when the best chance for success would come only if the coaches of our biggest rivals leave.

John Propst is the one that suprised me. When we got that guy i thought he would just be a warm body on the bench. Nice to see he's showing up. Or is it that our current talent base is that bad?

He came from hoover high, hes gonna be a good player.

You can evaluate the ones who have played on wether they have the makings of a good player.

Bray, Crump, Fulton, Hunter, James, Miller, Neal, Palardy, Propst, Rivera, Rogers, Simms, Smith, and Stone all have played significant minutes.

Factoring in youth, Simms is the only guy I would be suprised if they didn't end up being a quality SEC starter. Simms could still go either way.

That's 13 out of 25, which is already better than half. Simms could be 14.

Rush Propst is now the head coach at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia. He resigned from Hoover in 2007 after his coaching staff was accused of spying on on Vestavia Hills, grade-changing, using an ineligible player in four games, and giving preferential treatment for some football players. He was also accused of questionable finances and he had been having an affair and he has an illegitimate child due to it.
Even thought he made some mistakes he is a good coach. Colquitt County was 2-8 the season before he was head coach in 2007. They were 11-3 last season.

Wow, that guy can coach.

Colquitt picked up 9 wins in a season, and Propst only had 7 character issues listed. Most of the time you have to have 2 character issues to pick up 1 win.

In two seasons.
2007: 2-8
2008: 4-6
2009: 11-3
They are 4-3 so far this season but the three teams they lost too have a combined record of 18-1.

Yes Propst is indeed turning the Packers around. They just hung 60+ on my alma mater last week.

I mentioned this in a previous post. I wonder if part of Dooley's recruiting strategy is looking at players, not so much for their stars, but at what high school programs/conferences they are in. Perhaps he puts more weight in 3 star players who play in tough, competitive leagues than in 4-5 star players who play in powder puff leagues.
