What do you think about CDD's comments?

Anh, not really. Most of the posts are back and forth gibberish.

There was the WhiteOut vs BPV set of comments.
The WhiteOut vs Tenatious D comments.
The WhiteOut vs General Ulysses comments.
The WhiteOut vs everyone else comments.

Then someone ripped on Canada, and that started a whole new thing.

So, really, there have only be a few displeased people. It just gets buried in the randomness.

For the record my username is not Gen. Grant. It is from "Oh brother Where art thou?"

Just to be clear: mine wasn't gibberish and I clearly won.

Humble apologizes. I tried to wing it. I failed.

In my defense, I am a dapper dan man.

No problems. It's a self deprecating thing. Sometimes we are all just good natured, know it all blowhards. And I like ol Ulysees quote from the movie which applies to most of what goes on here on VN.."Well Pete, It's a fool that looks for logic in the chambers of the human heart" Or in our case Volunteers fans hearts.

There have been endless post-Milgram experiments, and the results are nearly always the same. I know of nothing preventing Milgram experiments from taking place (obviously, you can't REALLY shock the people). In fact, I've seen them done on popular television. It's a milestone in behavioural theory.

Clearly you've never submitted a research protocol for approval. No way the Milgram experiments get conducted today. There is no way for participants to provide informed consent given the potential for psychological harm resulting from the study.

This is entirely too long of a a thread. I guess Dooley expects everyone in Tennessee to have a little knowledge about WWII to understand those comments. I thought they were helarious, but I can see how a lot of stupid rednecks, who couldnt make it out of the 5th grade, would take offense.

"He's callin' us Nazis!" "Ethel, get in here, that there Coach Doogely is callin' us dang Nazis!" "I ain't no Nazi, I might hate a bunch of peoples who ain't like me, but I AIN'T NO NAZI!" "My Grandpappy fought the Nazis, he would roll over in his grave, hearin' that there Coach Doogely talk like that about my Volentears!"

Come on guys, he's probably a little flustered. His players do act like they are lost and don't know what to do, especially in the second half. He was making a analogy to the fact that our guys are constantly looking for direction and can't act on their own, while other team's players adapt during the game or during the play. Maybe part of that is youth and part of it is coaching, but we've got to get our act together or we won't win again.

These comments were probably a little poorly timed, he could have just said, "Our boys aren't able to act without first having direction from a coach." "They don't make decisions on their own, unlike other teams."

I don't necessarily agree with his choice of comparison, for the reason that a lot of ppl won't understand it, out of ignorance. However, it was funny, and it was just a comment, to get people to realize the struggles of this team.

The players are young, and do need a lot of direction, he should understand that as a coach. And should probably think about putting a lock on media and the players for a while. Down here in SC, I've heard a lot more about Simms comments than I have Dooley's today. Simms needs to keep his big mouth shut, he just sounds like an idiot to our opponents, while, for the most part, they see Dooley as frustrated.

They still, including Spurrier, were just talking today about how much respect they have for our team and our coaching staff. Spurrier said, "they probably have the best defense assignments we have seen all year." I was blown away to hear that from him. That's respect, regardless of our record.

GO VOLS!

I have been a fan of Dooley and still am somewhat but cut the crap and try to coach. Who cares about your analogies. If he spent more time concentrating on not getting his and the teams a$$ handed to them every week instead of coming up with cute things to say at the press conference we might not lose by 40 points every week. Pull it together coach. This isn't Louisiana Tech.

In Simms defense, he plays football the same way he sounds, so it's not surprise he sounds like an ignorant fool. (I'm not a fan of Simms at all if you can't tell)

I think Dooley's comments were poorly chosen, as I said in another thread, especially in this age of GOTCHA! Journalism. I get what he was saying but it's a really bad analogy to make, especially if you go outside the context. It starts raising more questions and soon it's blown out of proportion.

Bad analogy to use and poor decision to use it. That being said, the media is just feasting on this because they know clueless people will take it as "DOOLEY CALLED HIS TEAM NAZI'S!" without understanding that the German Army and the Nazi's were in all actuality, not the same thing for the most part.

Having been in the car all day and hearing a few different takes on the comments, nobody is really killing Dooley. In fact, everybody I've heard has begun with "the analogy made sense but . . ."

Worst I've heard was the midday show in atl where a producer opined that this was a result of the season wearing on dooley a little.

The analogy did not make sense. Sorry to everyone who has tried to bend themselves into a pretzel to make it seem so, but it is still not working on those who really know what is what.

Spoken like a true Fulmer would have us in better shape if he was still HC fan.
