After getting blown out on ESPN at home by our biggest Rival, I do not want to hear any humorous stories from our head coach right now.

That is the way he wants to do it. Make a joke or two and go about it his business. I have no problem with what he said. Could he have said it very simple like we dont have a leader and we dont know what to do? Sure.....but he chooses to say it how he wants. Its fine with me. We compete for a half then our lack of depth comes into play. Our coaches have had us in all the big games until the half. Then we get worn and out played. It shows how young and inexperienced we are. Not our lack of coaching. FYI- his jokes make me giggle.

So you are saying we are going to get slaughtered in Nashville?

I was referencing Hood's tactical blunders in losing Georgia to Sherman, so hopefully that's as far as the comparison holds. But getting slaughtered by Vandy would be akin to losing the Army of Tennessee at Nashville. We know what that meant for Hood.

Here's to hoping that doesn't play out.

I don't know how anyone who understands this can take objection to what he said. It fits. Dooley is a very smart man. I just hope this doesn't become the next 'shower discipline' comment, which I thought was funny, but somehow got out of hand. This one has potential in the wrong hands (ESPN).

Clearly, he didn't intend to directly equate the Tennessee fan base / program to Nazi Germany, so that doesn't bother me about his comments.

What does is the needlessly circuitous route he took to make a simple point - our team has got to get better at adjusting to the unexpected, both difficulties and opportunities - and the whole bit about acting like he's speaking into a microphone...really?

I guess if there's three things you look for in a head coach, they'd be:

1. Organized
2. Freshly dusted britches
3. The ability to perform impromptu pantomimes

Ridiculous.

That's fine, but Dooley is probably going to learn a good PR lesson on this one. When you start talking about Nazis, the message, right or wrong, tends to get lost pretty quick.

He didn't say Nazis. He said Germans. Most Americans understand that the two aren't equal.

If that extra hour a week could be spent learning how to get the right number of men on the field, I could do without a weekly press conference for now.

Would you like him to fire Wilcox now? It seems very likely that he's lit the guy up on multiple occasions.

Would you like him to become Fulmer and try to micromanage Wilcox further screwing things up?

the point he makes is true, regardless. Right now the team isn't comfortable going out there and making decisions and taking responsibility. They aren't getting into the "flow" of the game. They're relying to much on instructions instead of just making a play.

So our current Vols are playing the part of he Nazis. Aside from the sheer idiocy of even making that link, why the hell can't we blitz worth a flip?

Thats funny. I found no humor in CDD's statement and I am positive now that he is an educated man, but thats :lolabove: funny. (Blitzkreig) for those not getting the joke.

The fact that peole are actually upset about this is as funny as the analogy itself.

The families of the four Vols who were killed in WWII and memorialized in the south end zone might not find dooley's comments so funny. As a veteran myself I certainly do not.

Give it a break. He shouldn't have used that metaphor due to the (now obvious) fact that it would be misinterpreted. It's an appropriate metaphor for the situation, but not appropriate for the audience. Please delete this thread. It is only making Tennesseans sound uneducated for immediatley blowing up over a metaphor just because they don't understand the metaphor completley.
