I looked and didn't see this posted...but it if has been please delete.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - After losing to Mississippi State in Starkville in the Vols' third SEC loss, they face unbeaten Alabama this weekend.

Alabama is currently the #1 team in the nation.
With such a big game on the line, Coach Derek Dooley is under a lot of pressure to get a win.

Over the weekend, frustrated fans took to the rock, painting it with the phrase "Fire Fooley" and an image of orange pants crossed out.

Not long after, the messages on the rock were quickly covered with gray paint. A university spokesperson said UT officials were not behind the repainting.
Despite the controversy, Dooley was in good spirits at his weekly news conference on Monday.

There were no shortage of critics following

Tennessee's disappointing loss to Mississippi State on Saturday and the road won't get any easier for the Vols with top-ranked Alabama this weekend and South Carolina, a team that is also ranked in the Top 10, the following weekend.

Dooley has never beaten a ranked opponent, one of many negative statistics that have been directed toward UT coaches and players following Saturday's loss.

Amidst all the negativity, Dooley said he takes a realistic approach to helping his players deal with the pressure.

"To tell an 18-year-old not to read that stuff, I tell my 13-year-old and he reads it, so he doesn't listen to me either," said Dooley on Monday. "So, then you got to get plan b, which is you can't let them define who you are. Every time you get something bad, counter it with something positive."

Dooley said he tells the team it's not unreasonable for the fan base to expect performance and results.
Those results will be hard to come by this Saturday against Alabama.

So, did he actually say that? Are those his articulate words?

Just curious if anyone knows...in Coach Fulmer's entire time as head coach at UT, how many games did UT win that UT was not supposed to win? How many did UT lose with Coach Fulmer at the helm that UT was supposed to win?

I think the latter is far more than the former.

Counter this with Coach Dooley led Vols have lost 1 time when they were favored. Just food for thought.

By the way, I like Coach Fulmer and Coach Dooley. And eff everybody on here who cannot look in the mirror and not see a Volunteer! (Truly, not some bs *****in whinin halfasrse I am a Vol when it is easy to be) :)

Are you kidding?? THere is no comparison between the two. Fulmer consistently beat teams he was not supposed to beat and had our program among the elite programs in the nation in the mid to late 90's.

Also competed in a weak SEC where it was either UT or Florida on top and Fulmer couldn't beat Florida when it counted the most.

You must be quite a young fan.

Fulmer won plenty of games he had no business winning. Please don't ever compare cupcake Dooley to Fulmer. I don't care if you like Fulmer or not, him and Cupcake aren't in the same solar system.

Please find your prescription drugs. They are needed now. Fulmer was in a differnt talent era then. Besides, Majors had suffered through building the foundation for 15 years!

Fulmer was owned got owned by Spurrier with arguably the best QB to ever play the game. He also inherited an extremely talented football team, thanks to Johnny Majors.

Fulmer was a good coach, but no where near great IMO.

Fulmer won a bunch of games UT wasn't supposed to!! That's one of the things you could count on atleast one upset a year even in the down years! !

Revisionist history. The way it actually worked was that we played 11 games and we knew before the year started that we had more talent than 9 of them.

It was better watching a team loaded with talent under perform than watching a team with a lack of talent under perform.

It's a lot easier to lose games that you're favored to win when you're favored to win a lot of games, and Fulmer's teams were definitely favored to win a lot of games.

It should be easier to win a game you aren't favored to win when you aren't favored to win a lot of games, and Dooley's teams haven't been favored to win all that many.

I would like to see the numbers on this......I would err on the side of the wins as dawg vs. the losses as favored would probably be nearly equal. With the exception of his first half year, I bet he was favored in every SEC game he played through about 01 with the exception of FL. I think we were favored a couple of times against them and still lost. I know Peyton Manning didn't cover the points spread against Vandy his last 3 years....I know not the same thing but against Vandy during the 90's? This would be an interesting stat to see.
