It looks like we may be getting our share of defensive tackles this year. If we can shore up the defensive line and the offensive line develops, 2012 and 2013 could be really good years for our program.

Seems like in recent years we have whiffed on a lot of good DTs, but maybe that is over.

Look forward to seeing how this class turns out.

If we don't get another DT, we have done good job of filling our DT needs. Bring a couple if more onboard and it turns into a great job.

This is the best DT class we've had in 10 years if you don't count Bolden and Maholena together in '04. 2007 was great on paper but did not translate. I think we've got as close to sure fire contributers as we can get.

I agree. It has been a really long time since we have gotten this many D-lineman in one class. All are quality too.

Thompson did not live up to his recruiter of the year rep at Tennessee. He whiffed on Autry and Jacobs. Sirmon got O'Brien. I think Thompson may have been responsible for Sentimore, but overall he didn't get the talent many were expecting him too. On the other hand, I thought he coached very well with the limited talent he had to work with.

It said on the TOS that Kirven came in for his visit after Dooley and LT convinced him to visit...wonder how much impact LT leaving will have (right after JW and PS). Don't like our chances here.

I don't think LT leaving will adversely the recruitment of Kirven. I think he was a long shot even if LT has stayed.

Eh, long shot is a bit strong. I will give you that he is a Vatech lean, but nobody that has made both an official and an unofficial visit here is not a long shot, especially now that we have sunseri.

"It was great. I got to see a lot of stuff I haven't seen yet. Third time being up here and they showed me a lot. I enjoyed the coaches and I hung out with the players and stuff. It was a great visit. I loved it," Kirven said.

One thing that helped the Vols on his visit was that Tennessee replaced former defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox with former Alabama assistant Sal Sunseri as the Sunseri and Kirven know each other well.

"Coach Sal was my recruiting coordinator at Alabama and once he left and came here it was a big thing. They definitely got an advantage right there with coach Sal," Kirven said. "That's a big thing with him coming here and he's a great coach and a great recruiter, so it's an advantage."

"I wouldn't say that they're number one. I don't really have any placement right now because I haven't taken all my visits, but they're definitely right there at the top," Kirven said.

"Hanging out with the players was fun. I enjoyed seeing the facilities and they were nice. Everything was great. It was a great visit and I enjoyed a lot of it," Kirven said.

LT leaving probably helped, considering Kirven and SS have a history.

IF we manage to swing Shanks, and pick Kirven, then I would be EXTREMELY happy with our class on the line:

Sentimore, O'Brien, Shanks, McCullers, Kirven, Lewis, Taylor...would be nothing short of amazing.

I wanna see Alan Carson and McCullers line up next to each other...and face off against Tiny.

Glad to see it. Think we could still use 1-2 more. We also need to stay heavy on DT's for the next few classes. We need a 2 deep rotation and you have to factor in injuries and one or two not panning out or leaving.

Was hoping our new DC could bring in 1-2 surprise high quality defensive recruits. Would be nice if one is a DT.

What happened to GA DT Dalvin Tomlinson? He was in the mix not long ago and he hasn't committed anywhere yet. :ermm:

He has never really been in the mix. Their was a slim chance we might have gotten an ov there for a little bit, but now even that does not look like it will happen. He has been a GT lock pretty much from the start of his recruiting, with the main reason being GT's education
