Gotta love a straight shooter. Unless you live in the Brown household.

CDD's extra dry sense of humor and sarcasm should make for some classic exchanges between himself and the overtly self-important Knoxville sports media in the coming years. Every time he says something off the wall, then follows it with that deadpan stare, don't you know they are trying to squirm out of their own skin? I love it.

2:38 through 3:10 is hilarious too. I love the way that Coach Dooley mocks his players. :eek:lol:

Mike Strange interviewing Chaney today.

Jim Chaney has a pointer for Dallas Thomas

I had a good session with UT offensive coordinator Jim Chaney today after practice. He's a good guy with a ready wit. I wrote a column for govolsxtra.com and the paper, but had plent of leftover material.

On the dilemma of scoring enough points to keep up with high-powered Oregon: "People ask me all the time about how we're going to approach the Oregon offense. Hell, go ask (Justin) Wilcox (UT's defensive coordinator). I don't know what the hell he's going to do.''

On Oregon's veteran defense that won a Pac 10 title last year: "They're very accustomed to winning and if they make a mistake, somebody covers up for it. They're very fast and very good. They're a formidable opponent, I'll tell you that.''

On UT's offensive game management against UT Martin: "We made some mistakes, but we looked like we knew what we were doing, going out on the field, breaking the huddle and lining up, which is our goal.''

On the offensive line's performance against UT Martin: "They didn't make near as many mistakes as we'd anticipated, if that means anything.Harry (Hiestand) has done a wonderful job with those kids. I'm excited watching those kids play. I'm tickled about 'em, I really am.''

On maintaining his composure during game day: "I think most coaches who have played the game or been around the game a long time know you get 'em prepared and then on game day, it's their time. They don't need some coach climbing 50 feet up their hiney to get 'em rolling. If they don't get inspired walking into Neyland Stadium, you're playing the wrong dude anyway.
"Our job is to be there for 'em. It's a tough environment. Football is a very violent game and you've got to remember those boys are out there getting smoked a few times. So you want to support 'em as good as you can.''

hahahaha he's so subtle and deadpan. I love it.

When asked about if the Oregon game is special to Justin, "I'm assuming he's gonna be pulling for us which is big..." and you can hear other reporters trying to hold in the laughter.

"When we switch shirts our loyalties can change...when we are getting paid"

I would love to think this is a stab at LK but I know it isn't
