Dooley Plays Nicey-Me No Likey

this is turning into a kiffin thread- i wanted it to be more about dooley bc kiffin is gone ( and dead to me )

i mean what are your alls thoughts about how dooley has handled himself...i mean i like that we have someone now that people respect....but does Dooley and Cryer have to "LIKE" eachother?

Thanks for keeping us on track. I don't care about other fan bases or other teams or their coaches. Because I feel that way I don't care if Urban and Derek hate each other to the point of throwing punches or love each other to the point of holding hands. As long as Derek finds a way to beat Urban at some point real soon I don't care what they think of one another.

I move on within a couple of days of something like this happening. A lesson many on this board could use.

So, having an opinion of the situation is wrong?? I want to move on, but we have too many people that keep defending a one year coach that would have changed our colors to garnett and gold if he could have. So, that's why I take up for UT, it's not about taking up for myself, I'm taking up for the school I choose to support and be a fan of.

I loved the way Kiffin "rocked the boat" I liked that there was swagger. I loved the way he made other fans cringe. However, I feel better with Dooley. I think he has more class and will be more succesful than Kiffin would have been.

Kiffin is a talented coach who talks too much and has very questionable character. Dooley is a good sportsman and intelligent guy. He seems to have good ethics and character too.

I don't know that being personally antagonistic with Meyer helped Kiffin... It definitely didn't help Fulmer.

I disagree with this completely.

Never said that.

I respect what you are saying here, but don't let it bother you. He's gone, I thought he'd have us turned around, but it is what it is. Dwelling on it and bashing the guy really doesn't matter anymore and just makes us look REALLY bad.

Examples?
1. He didn't get the Game Maxims tatooed on his forehead.
2. He didn't show patience with the orange overall crowd when they called Vol Calls asking him "how long he had known his defensive coordinator."
3. He wasn't an obese, inbred hick who purported to "bleed orange."
4. His wife didn't resemble He Man's nemesis.
5. He didn't let Florida score 50.
6. His mother wouldn't win a Paula Deen soundalike contest.
7. He doesn't consider old tapes of the Johnny Majors Show must see TV.
8. He let his players have their way and wear those blasphemous black jerseys.
9. He wears pants, not britches.
10. Wil Mushmouth didn't recommend him.

You were Kiffin's biggest supporter while he was here. Don't pull this crap.

See, that's how I remember it, too. In fact, it was the rare individual that wasn't positive about the Kiffins. It's total revisionist history to pretend like we weren't disappointed when they left.

It's okay, guys. We didn't do anything wrong. They just left for another opportunity, one that at the time seemed likely to mature more quickly.

Embarrassing, false accusations against other programs.
Recruting violations.
Posting USC photos in UT facilities.
Drunken car wrecks.
Lack of sportsmanship after the bowl game and disrespect to Frank Beamer.
Blowout losses to Ole Miss and Virgiania Tech.
Very poor play calling on the goalline against UCLA.
Very poor clock management against Alabama that cost us the game.
Hostessgate.
I could go on....

Everything in bold...who gives a crap? That happens all the time in college football.

He didn't do everything perfect, but who does?

I have to admit, I loved the fact that Kiffin had swagger and angered our opponents. I believe if he had stayed, we would be better, but he was destined not to stay and see it through. Now, I am glad he is gone.

DD has to start from rock bottom (rocky bottom) and I don't agree with hatvol and others that he can't build a championship team. I don't have any proof that he can, but they don't have any proof that he can't either. This is not La Tech, it is Tennessee and we have the resources and tradition that can attract top talent, assistant coaches and fan support, with the exception of a few on this board, to get to the top again. I want to lend my support to the team and not pixx and moan before they hit the field.

Sorry, but when rivals say they like our hire, it makes me very, very nervous.

Exactly. I was thrilled when UF hired Zook and Bama hired Shula. And it sure as Hell wasn't because they were going to bring those programs back to prominence.
