Dooley On THe Hotseat-This is Crazy

Somebody started this thread over a month ago...it is stupid and irrelevant because Dooley is in no way in jeopardy...even if we somehow lose to Cincy, Vandy, or UK, which wouldn't be a shock to me, Dooley is not going to be in trouble.

He may not be fired at halftime like Fulmer, but you are 100% nuts if you think he could lose those 3 and not "be in trouble."

interesting list. No way Fickell is anywhere other than #1. If he doesn't go 13-0 he's not gonna be at OSU next year.

hahaa....I meant lose to 1 of those 3 teams...losing to all of them would change my outlook severely.

If any of you, as UT fans, have DD on the hot seat after this year, you don't know wtf you are talking about and know nothing about building a program, team and the game of football.

Seriously. That kind of blind, unabashed loyalty is what kept Fulmer around 5 years too long. I absolutely LOVE Dooley and believe he will win championships here, but to think and even say that there is NOTHING that could happen this year to cause Dooley's cheeks to get warm next year is naive.

It should not but with some fans they will rant and rave.

Don't go there. That's not blind loyalty and it's not naive, and neither describes me. It's understanding the state of the program and how quickly it should be expected to be turned around. Period. You don't judge any coach over a 2 yr span after taking over a program that was at it's lowest point in 22 yrs. If you don't understand that, it's not my problem.

I really believe Dooley will be the coach at Tennessee for at least 10 years or longer. We really won 8 games last year so we should win at least 8 games this year because I think we will beat Georgia and Florida and all the OOC games, plus we may beat USC also.

So then you think we're going undefeated hahaha??

There is no excuse for us to win less than six games this year at the least!

Oh I went there. The Fulmer crack might have been an exaggeration, but your premise is still silly. A lot of coaches ONLY get 3 years these days, despite what the norm SHOULD be (which we aren't debating here I might add). To think that a coach in the SEC, in his second year, at a school as storied and steeped in tradition as UT is, couldn't possibly do a single thing to get himself a "hot seat" moving into his third year is a fundamentally flawed premise.

Gentlemen...Gentlemen...this is too much ado over nothing. True we have a brutal schedule, true we have a young team, true our HC has not yet had overwhelming success...but come on, haven't you been paying attention? The team is improving, we are getting bigger, faster players who are being well coached. The five win seasons are behind us. The six win seasons are behind us. If this year goes to hell in a handbasket, we still win seven games. We have sound coach, a proud tradition, a huge stadium the envy of 95% of the college programs in the country, a national brand, and we have no Ponzi scheme boosters paying for abortions...the future is bright.

I completely agree. The future is bright. I simply have a hard time ignoring people that deal in absolutes where none exist.

Based on what? Even successful coaches (and he's not proven he is one) rarely last that long at one place anymore.

No joke. DD would say the same thing. So that means he's in the hot seat? That's ridiculous. You guys will be asking for a new coach every 2 years with that logic. Down year=hotseat, even if it's in year 2 of digging out of the pit.

That's not how I think. More power to you.

Houston Nutt should be the one sitting highest on the hot seat. As for Dooley he has to show this team has improved and headed in the right direction. I still see them 6-6, but hopefully we'll see them turn the corner.

We will beat a team out of the West this season. Mark it.

You do know we play Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas, right? And that all of them are top 15 teams, and 2 of them are top 5 teams?

without much talent to work with, if dooley wins 7-8 games, that will be a decent year.
