Dooley on ESPNU

The **** has hit the fan and now we are starting to clean the stains and get this place looking snazzy again. If Texas doesn't lose out on a couple then offer Santos that spot, then he would be a Vol today. That's nothing on Dooley or Sunseri, the kid is from Texas and gets an offer to play for the Longhorns, of course he is going to take it. As for Peters I don't really know much but like someone said, these kids are 18. Some of them will change in an instant if a visit goes well. I am more than satisfied with this class even though there are still a few positions we need to be a little deeper in. Very confident that next year could be that turn around year that gets us back into the national spotlight. Prediction of a 9-3 season with loses to Bama, UGA and SC. Outback/Peach bowl bid. I think JackStraw is just sharing some of his "whine" with us.

I am excited about this class. Losing Santos and Peters was certainly far from ideal. I think the Peters loss is harder for me to handle than Santos simply because I thought Peters had the potential to be a gamechanger whereas I thought Santos had the potential to be a very solid linebacker. Aside from these two recruits and the previous debacle with Autry and Jacobs, this was a good but not great year in recruiting. That said, coming off three or four years of absolute mediocrity in a row, this class is pretty amazing considering Arkansas' recent success and their two 4* players, etc., and I hope to see what Dooley and Co. can do after a good 8-9 win season in 2012 (keeping my fingers crossed).

Thank god you don't post very often.

Yeah I don't get it. Most of the people on here would build a house by putting up the exterior walls first, just for looks, then worry about the foundation. It takes time, and there are no short cuts.

Great, more talk that it's a rebuilding program, we are ranked 9th in the sec alone

9th in SEC per ESPN who doesn't count JUCO players towards ranking. Patterson and Sentimore? Try following Rivals for a more accurate ranking.

Take care of business by hiring new coaches maybe, but business won't be taken care of on the field, with our lack of talent on the field and lack of leadership and coaching ability

Go somewhere else troll....VN doesn't need you.

Newest addition to my IGNORE list in 3...2...1...bye bye.

In the presser, DD said they may not be through recruiting this year, but will not take any marginal players. I was glad to hear that.

uses VFL/Tennessee brand and fan support as positives in recruiting

As much as the posivols want to blame the negavols for the program's ailments, I don't recall CDD ever blaming the fans. He always compliments us. He understands passion and knows the criticism comes with the job.

I'm having another one of those rare moments when I find myself thinking, somehow, someway, this guy just might pull this off.

I hope the new staff can show us more on the field this fall. If he gets/keeps coaches who can develop players and scheme, he can do one of the hardest parts of the UT job... sell the program to kids and parents outside the state.

Why is it that anytime CDD goes on TV to represent UT (which he does well IMO) the negavols come out in full force? I'm hoping that when CDD talks about about Fan support in recruit he isn't including the negavols.

It fills all our needs outside of linebackers

I still think we will pick up a one or two.....They will not be wasted schollies...If CSS and CDD gets them they will be programed for success....

This is a tough year for some to understand because it wasn't a glitz and glitter recruitting year....This is a depth and workhorse year....

The CP Pickup was awesome....DBs and DL Pickups terrific...RBs are solid and they are all SEC caliber....Letting go of Cross and Henderson was a conscience decision to upgrade....

FL has got a top 5 class but went 0 for 5 in their needs category......

This class is one of the better classes because of it not being a flash and bang....We got workhorses this year...Look at the sizes and speed on these recruits...

CDD and staff is building some thing that we do not see because we are not living it everyday......

Very good points about the needs being filled and the lack of glitz.

The more I read around today, I started to really think the Rivals, Scouts, and ESPNUs of the world really slant their rankings to about 5 states and 2 or 3 positions (QB, WR, OT)...

you're crazy! Our offense will be incredible! Defense.....we will see what happens

We lost two big playmakers last year. Everyone back this year with CP, Crooms, and Pig it will be crazy

I agree, but we need to run the ball. I hope we are much improved....We need an impact RB more than receivers. I hope Lane is the real deal. GBO!!!

Plenty of intelligent people know the true state of the program. And, that it takes time after the mess we've been through the past few years to build it back up through solid recruiting such as today. The rest of us speak our feeble minds on the board, and my tiny little nipples went to France.
