Dude, shut up. If he's our coach I support him, at least until and if he sucks it up. Listening to all this drivel about how he's the worst hire ever is making me PO'd.

This clown (Go Vols,Win Today) has shown his true colors today.

He's likely a Bammer/Vandy troll in disguise.

If Dooley is the new AD, I can live with that. Dooley's first task is to go find us a good football coach.

What does Dooley have that Kiffin Didn't?doesn't??? Kiffins Swagger came from Carrol and his attitude came from getting canned by Al Which seems like now was the right thing. Famous Dad oh yeah he has one of those as well. Give Dooley the chace if he is the man. If he sucks we can him in a few years. I am going to have faith and support him and the VOLS. GBO

This negative reaction has made me like the guy. He has everything Kiffin had as a coach and more except for Monte. He can recruit and he knows the SEC, whereas Kiffin did not. He also has NFL experience and Saban trusted him with recruiting. What is not to like? He isn't the name people wanted that would cost about 4x as much and would deliver nothing new. Seriously, what proof do we have that a guy like Gruden could coach and recruit in college ball? None.

I agree! The guy has some creditials, his resume looks better than Kiffin's. The guy must be organized, has good coaching genes, (Dad and Uncle) and comes from the Saban coaching tree. I will support this hire until he pulls a Lane stunt.

Do you think that most people said no to us, due to our saying that we want most of the staff retained so we dont have to pay them? Or is it that Hamilton isn't selling the university and ponying up the cash needed to get them? Maybe both. I think we have some serious issues that need to be looked at in the way we are going about things if we cant get a good mid-major coach to take on this job and to see what he can do himself.

ESPN reported about 30 minutes ago that the reports that Dooley had been offered and accepted the job may have been a bit premature and that Kevin Sumelin was still in the running.

Dooley may still get the job, but I don't think its been inked yet.

Schrodinger's Cat may or may not be on campus.

:banghead2:

Er... to have nailed this joke, you would have to state that Dooley both is and is not on campus, until someone actually looks and verifies. He's both, at the same time, until verified. That's why it's a paradox.

Nevermind.

o great....well lets enjoy bein down in the SEC standing next to vandy and kentuckey for bout 5 years then hamilton will be fired, fulmer will become AD, he'll then hire a coach and it'll take 3 years to start buildin the program back up!

Given the circumstances you were dealt, it's a good hire...

When LSU hired Nick Saban, the fan base like was like "who?"..."can't we do better than this?"

You just never know...give him a chance...he is a very good coach...good energy, can recruit, knows SEC..

Cutcliffe is a great coach, but at least the fan base won't feel like they are going back to old tires...this hire represents a new guy, new direction, new hope...etc..

Kiffin was an odd hire, starting with Al Davis.

Kiffin has actually done nothing long enough to have earned these top jobs in this profession..Is he even 35 yet? and he has coached the Oakland Raiders, The Vols and now at USC? Huge Risk! I never liked him from day one

The sad thing is, Lane will succeed at USC, because it's too easy to win 10 games a year out there..but he will live in Pete's shadow...and have the Big Media crucifiying him...

Be sure about this -- no 'name' coach would take a job where he can't pick his own staff.

That's why Muschamp didn't take a 2M raise and HC position to stay as Mack Brown's understudy. That's why Whittingham wasnt interested. That's why Cut took his name out of it.

The only guys that would take a deal like that are the Derek Dooley's of the coaching world. Those that havent established a great set of assistants yet and are fine working with a set of assistants they are not familiar with.

Thank you Hamilton for screwing up Kiffin's contract a year ago. We'll all pay for it after you're long gone once you're fired.

Welcome to continued mediocrity ! If Hamilton was serious about competing for National Championships , he would have gone out and bought "the guy", Whatever the cost . Dooley wont compete with Meyer , Saban , Miles , Richt or even Chizik in recruiting or X's and O's . We will be competing for the title of "best of the rest " . I am a Vol . I always have been and always will be and I will support whoever the coach is ,but this is beyond bizzare to me .

So who is this magical "the guy" that we could have bought? Name a name.

I think Hamilton made us look worse than Kiffin and this is why:

First, you don't start with a list that you know will say no. Head coach in waiting at texas. Cower who said no to the BILLS and is waiting for Giants. Gruden who is waiting to go back to the NFL. Patterson who says no to EVERYBODY and likes the easy job he has now. Those four names should never have even been brought up. he should have started with guys who might be possible. BYU coach is still kinda ticked over almost being overlooked for the UTAH coach. ETC ETC. He started off horrible with Muschamp and by the time it got to Whittingham it looked like a loser job. This is Hamiltons fault 99%. One for hiring Kiffin. Two for putting in such a LOW buyout for a guy with no other options. And three, for not knowing who he could actually sway.
