Dooley needs more time. It's that simple.

Our starting DTs are a converted DE and a converted TE with a converted FB playing MLB. That's the middle of our defense folks...Do you think Muschamp inherited anything like that? I don't see a Shane Reveiz on their 2 deep.

I agree that there is a difference in having players that have played their position the majority of their careers and ones that are converted from another position.

they had too much speed just like kirk is saying on espn. we still a young team and the kids could have layed down and gave up after a 16-0 lead but they didn't. these guys have got heart. loosing justin hurts but bygod it's still a long season to go and we a young football team that learned from this game. i believe in the coaching staff myself. everybody in the country knows that if rainey or demps got a step on us it was over with. the guys didnt give up they made mistakes and learned from them but didnt give up. my only thing about the team is a think the offensive line needs another year in the weight room or tenn needs to hire another offensive line coach. stilll dont know why rajon neal is starting either at t.b. he's suppossed to be the fastest player on the team according to the coaches!!!

I agree. He's going to get this year and next, after that all bets are off.

Agreed. We will need two years for a Dline. Out depth, talent, and experience will take a lot of time

Even with the on-again, off-again Urban shenanigans, Florida continued to clean up in recruiting. The past few years, there has been far too much turmoil in the Tennessee program to recruit and maintain the teams needed to stay atop the SEC.

Dooley was basically out there with two years worth of players against four years worth of players. I believe depth and inexperience were the biggest differences in the game.

Although a loss is never the desired outcome, for the first time in years, I feel confident that the program is heading upward. We need more experience, depth and a few more play makers. I really believe the next two years will be great. If not, THEN it's time to reevaluate the coaching staff.

He will get more time. He really needs at least one win against a decent SEC team this year just to help the moral going into next year. Next years team is going to still be very young and they need at least have some confidence going into off season.

It seems the idiots all spoke up last night, and the sane ones slept it off. Good post.

We are at 77 scholarship players, and a sizable % of these never play. I follow your example- Hood and Austin Johnson would be solid backups, and Malik would be a great strong-side DE. And AJ Johnson is a MLB, but he's been in the system for 2 months. Our best DB had a drug problem, so we play solid (but not spectacular) players like Waggner and Randolph in his place. We just don't have enough horses right now.

There used to be a time when we would replace a Jamal Lewis with Henry. But we're razor thin due to poor recruiting and excessive attrition. He needs a couple more classes before we can fairly evaluate him.

nothing is going to change bro. there is a reason he has a losing record as a college coach.
Even so the program being stable will help us with the next guy. Who would want to come here if they up and fired Derrick after what he inherited? Stop and think about that for a minute.

I can (grudgingly) accept another 6-6 with the loss of Jackson and Hunter this year.
Next year, if we can't upset teams like GA and SC, I'll be really concerned.

Got to give him time. Nobody could turn this train wreck around in a couple years.

Dooley has to show something in 2012 if he wants to be here in 2013, IMO.

He doesn't even have to show a lot, but he has to show something.

If he can't recruit and coach up then we are in the basement for another decade. We will have to find someone with instant credibility to be the HC (Like bammer did with Saban). I really hope Dooley is the real thing, I would hate to wait 10 years for a competitive team.

Saban came in after the Shula/Mike Price fiasco.

He'll get more time, because we really have no choice. Nobody from a top school will come here right now, and we would be insane to make another risky hire and chance further instability. This is going to take longer than most hoped and longer, really, than it had to.

I don't think people realize that cdd had only recruited 1 class. The 2010 class was a held together kiffin class. Give cdd time to get some more bodies in before sending the moving vans.

The fact that we are already talking about Dooley's job security after he's only been our coach for a year and three games is a sad reflection on our fanbase.
