C'mon Hamilton.........What the hell are you doing?? I'm glad you chose Dooley over Cut, but can you not find anyone our there with a winning record as a football coach? Anywhere in America?

Listen......Dooley is a class act. (Unlike Kiffy) He has Character.....that is important. But seriously, can UT not even hire a coach that has a proven track record?

Geez.

Good Luck Dooley. I hope your best coaching is yet to come.

Any one else that would have been interested would have let it be known. That's what agents are for.

Whew! I'm glad someone finally voiced THIS opinion. I have been clamoring for someone to start a thread with this sentiment.

Some will disagree with this, but I remember Vince Dooley and ...

Being son of Vince Dooley > being son of Monte Kiffin

I hope UT drops a Dooley on the rest of the SEC, just so that the negative posters' on Volation have to eat their words.

Dooley coached at a school that dont get good players. His team played LSU and Bosie St close this year. He worked for Nick Sabin for a few yrs so he might be good. He recurit the south was at LSU with Sabin when they won championship and went with Sabin to Miami.

Listen, no matter how much you lash out at me, Kiffin is not coming back.

If you consider that a "lash", it is time for you to turn in for the night.
I think we upgraded from LK in the HC department. The staff is yet to be determined.

dooley took La Tech to its first bowl game and victory in 30 years.

They had a five game losing streak where they were outscored by a total of 23 points. I saw this listed...

"A good chunk of this offseason will have to be spent simply recovering from a brutal season that saw the Bulldogs lose key player after key player to injury. During the team’s 24-16 near upset at LSU on Nov. 14, the team had 18 freshmen and sophomores listed on its two-deep chart due to injuries..."

And all that somehow translates into him being a great head coach?

yeah its my first post here

And Iagree totally with the original poster, how in the world can a program with UT's storied tradition not draw some interest from a highly touted coach?

would like to know who was contacted and interviewed about the job

The lack of interest in the job makes me wonder if something is not going on behind the scenes.

short answer, no he couldn't because kiffy screwed us over hard so late after the season was over and too close to signing day

uhhh, I'm not sure how dooley contributed to the rest of the sport. I know Monte's D is the template for pretty much every successful Defensive team anywhere

You guys are killing me. I would think that Derek Dooley has learned a hell of a lot more about football from his father and his uncle. Than Lame did from Monte

I listened to ESPN today and finally agree with one of their opinions of us. Our job was not that wanted because of what we all on here have been saying. First we are in the SEC. Second we don't have as much in state talent as many others. Third the fans place a ton of pressure on the staff. Forth it's in a rebuilding state currently.

Much easier to walk in at other places and make big waves.

Except against Ole Miss, Auburn, Va Tech... I guess as long as the opposing team runs the offense that Monte wants them to run...then he is legendary!

I'd rather had Hammy taken the time and get the right coach vs hurrying up the hire just to try and save the class. With this hire, there is no guarantee of that anyway.

Please tell me ONE coach that is a GUARANTEE of being a winner.

Not knocking Monte as a very good technical coach, but there is more to it than that. He didn't have to go along with this latest stunt by CLK, but he did. I remember Vince Dooley and I'd put him up there with C.M. Newton among coaches at other schools who always exemplified class and sportsmanship. I still say he's greater. Just my opinion. :hi:

P.S. Was Vince Dooley still head coach when GA beat Pitt and won an NC long about 76 or 77?
