Dooley > Kiffin

Fulmer was a hell of a recruiter. Fulmer would have had a better class than CLK produced if he had been kept on. The washout from the CLK class was immense before he left and is now epic. Look at the current depth on this team. That's Hammy's fault for the merry-go-round coaching fiasco. Fulmer, by the way, would have won nine games last year, not seven.

Lane's one success at UT was Crompton. I tend to believe Crompton would have come good sooner under the Fulmer regime, but there are arguments either way on that one.

And that's the fun of a message board. Peace.

DD could be the next great SEC coach, or a bust no one knows and it will be at least 3 years before final judgement can be made. One thing is for sure MH will make dang sure he has everthing he needs to win, his job rides with the Double D.

This could be the dumbest post I've ever read. And I've seen plenty of epic failures.

I'm not sure I follow.

1. Fulmer was a hell of a recruiter. It's an Epic Fail to deny that. He had a Top Ten class before being fired.

2. Fulmer would have beaten UCLA and Alabama last year, IMHO, and won all the games CLK did (last year we caught Bama on their worst day, and we should have won. Why Tim Priest new Lincoln was hurt in pre-game and CLK didn't? Well, I have my own opinions).

3. Obviously Clawson can coach. It was obvious the new system / new people took Crompton half the year to get right last year. So, easily, Clawson might have had Crompton firing by UCLA. Then, the season under Fulmer becomes scary.

4. The real Epic Fails on VN I believe to be the intense Fulmer hate (hey, nobody can deny Fulmer is an enigma), and the slovenly Kiffin Love.

5. I like a lot of your posts.

Edit: 6. There is a great list in the "Can't Get Phil Off My Mind Thread" circa pg 21 on the amount of talent we have lost since Nov 3, 2008 substantiating my point on the Epic Fail of the revolving coach door on our talent depth.

Great recruiters don't have 35th ranked classes at schools like Tennessee. You can't alternate good and bad recruiting years in this league. You have to be on top of your game every year, and Fulmer wasn't.

Yeah, his performance against those teams in '08 really make me confident that he could magically turn it around in '09 when both of those teams improved.

Clawson's coaching ability is a moot point, as Fulmer never gave him control of the offense. Plus, if you believe Fulmer, he said he intended to fire Clawson had he been retained as head coach.

I don't hate Fulmer so much as I hate that he ran the program into the ground. Kiffin was well on his way to bringing UT back, but there's no way Hamilton (or Kiffin, for that matter) could have known Kiffin's dream job would come open after his first year, and that he would get offered said job.

Thanks. :)

you can even look back to bama 07 and see we had no shot with CPF at the helm

with all due respect, i can't see fulmer winning last year's game against bama in any way, shape, or form. had he been there, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as close as tennessee kept it last year IMO.

i also don't understand why so many people keep saying fulmer never let clawson have control of the plays. the offense that was run when we started the season didn't look anything like the offense that fulmer might have ran had he been in complete control. just my 2 cents.

The title of this thread is "Dooley > Kiffin", not "Fulmer > Dooley". The way I look at it, Dooley will have a better SEC record by the end of his career than Kiffin did. I also think that Kiffin will have a better overall record at USC than Dooley will have here. So, who's the better coach. IMO, there's no real way to tell. Pac-10 supremecy are apples, and SEC supremecy is oranges...... Hopefully. (Get it?????? ORANGEs)

OP is correct. Dooley has every one guessing. LK had all his crap posted for all the world to see. Thing is that we didnt want to see it. Hey coach what is your plan to stop Va Tech? ER uh hmmm we have the perfect plan, we are all geniouses. My dad can whip your dad. So there.
