If Dooley is the guy I will give him a fair shot and will be behind him because of how much i love the program. Folks, this is way better than Lane and O and it will allow us to keep the coaches we have now. Look past his record he come highly recommended. If we can get a great Def. Coor. we will be fine. Go Vols!

Well, Here we go Vols. I hope this is the right pick, for TN's sake. If it doesnt work out then Hamilton just made his last big decision for the University of Tennessee.

That being said, I am behind Dooley and this great football team 100%. I wish the best for them and hope we can be back to competing in the East very soon. I was hoping for Kippy Brown, but at least he will remain on the staff.

If this hire happens, quit all this arguing and BACK HIM UP! He is our coach and we need to support him 100%. Yeah, maybe he wasn't the slam dunk hire we were looking for but he could be good. Let's try and cut down on the complaining and do a little more supporting. Come on ya'll, we are btter than that

Okay Derek Dooley is not a household name in the fan'dom so I will make a few comments about him. First I don't think this is a bad hire, I think it is a very good if not outstanding hire. One thing I like about the hire is that those coaches who stayed LOYAL to the vols are reportedly going to be able to keep their jobs. Second Dooley is very passionate about football and teaching by all accounts. His record is a little deceiving because he took over a program that was the laughing stock of Division 1 (I still call it Div 1 and probably will until my death!) and took them to a bowl win in 2008. He did that with no big name players and with no big time facilities!
Further he has a work ethic like no other. LA Tech is simply devastated he is leaving. So many people look at his 2009-10 record and make fun of him. However, if you are careful you see a couple of things. One he lost several of his top players to injury early in the season and still had a respectable showing against teams that had much better athletes. He lost to great teams like Auburn, Navy, Nevada, Boise State, LSU & Fresno State all of which were bowl teams. Look I understand that the Vol Nation expected a huge name to come to UT take over, but look what happened the last time we went that route, Lane Kiffin! I say let’s give the guy a chance and reward the guys who were loyal Vols and stayed.

FWIW A caller on 610 the Fan in Charlotte, a UT Alum said that the Dooley contract had been pulled off the table. So it ain't a done deal till the guy is sitting on TV with a Power T on his forehead. Who ever it is I support them and Ut GO VOLS

Jimmy hyams is a scam, he said on his radio show just over 14 months ago that "it's not his job to call for someone to be fired" but now he is throwing MH under the bus with all his bs. hyams was in the good ole boys network when dickey and fulmer were running the show on the hill, when dickey left and MH took over as AD he lost some of his "inside sources" and with fulmer being fired he is no longer getting all the inside info he once was. why do you think JH politiced on his show to save fulmers job? when the good ole boys were together JH never shined unflattering light on ut football or dickey. he is still pizzed off because hammy didnt tell him about the black uniforms. what a joke

Hey gotta start somewhere. I have a feeling this guy will be a lot more appreciative of his opportunity than Kiffin. I would have liked a big name hired also but this guy has some motivation ahead of himself and doesnt feel like he's doing tennessee a favor by becoming our head coach like Kitten.

More importantly, Herschell Walker, the ex-UGA great, was just on Sports Center and he ripped Lame Kitten. Die, Lame . . . just die.

Ok, so I don't really wish death on the guy, but he is a complete doche bag and I hope he goes 0-12 next season at USC. It won't happen, but I hope he loses to every other team in the PAC-10 and I hope Notre Dame hangs 100 points on him.

Ok I'm quoating myself since this is what I said earlier today when I first learned of the choice that was made for our new HC.

After watching the press conference I feel different and want to take back what I posted. Sure I could have just deleted it but no...I said it and meant it at the time.

I actually like what the guy had to say and how he came across to me. I'm feeling much better about him and am willing to give him my full support and yep...he's already "earning" my respect.

I already like him better than Lane Kiffin after hearing his initial press conference compared to Kiffin's. Kiffin seemed shady and not trustworthy to me the first time I listened to him. Yes later in the season I started to warm up to him but we see how that turned out. :no:

Time will tell...Go Vols !!
