Dooley is underachieving IMO

Doesn't matter. You're officially not a true fan.

Not a true fan because he is not buying this coaching staff? People most of us were buying Kiffin's staff last year and felt good about the future. You can tell we needed more talent but we always seemed well prepared and well coached (except for the Ole Miss game). We need even more talent this year but what have you seen to say we are headed in the right direction.

Fans that ignore stuff and just blindly say "give him time and we will be good in 2012 etc..." really, you so sure of that? Tell me some positives you have seen? We are currently behind the likes of Miss. St, Miss., Arkansas, South Carolina, in recruiting.

I too think he is over his head, yes we don't have the talent, but we can't even put 11 defenders on the field people. Yeah, lets leave Julio Jones uncovered? Be blind people, I know what I see and don't mind saying it!!!! Good luck being a blind "fan".

We're going to be worse. Anyone telling you otherwise is foolish and has zero clue to the game of football.

We'll be better. I don't know much, but I have a couple of clues as to the game and I absolutely believe we'll be better.

Everyone here who is "looking forward to 2011, 2012", I'll send you a copy of a DVD from last Saturday and save you the anxiety.

This team is going to be worse next year, especially on defense.

This "we're back!" and "championship time" bullcrap some of you pull out of your rears needs to stop right now, it will be CDD's next contract before we even have a chance to see us competing in Atlanta. Face reality.

How will this team be worse on defense? Defensive ends will be better, tackles will be back and backed up, linebackers and secondary cannot get any worse.

Did someone piss in your cheerios this morning? I mean, besides the entire UT football team and coaching staff.

I'm kinda bummed, because I thought I knew something about football, but apparently I don't. I mean, I have zero clue to the game of football.

Bottom line: lack of talent & depth + poor coaching = failure.
Dooley is a good guy but he's not cut out for coaching in the SEC. The powers that be need to dump a boatload of cash and hire a proven winning coach.

I dont really see how we are going to be worse on defense. A year to learn the system not losing many starters, getting depth along the line, a secondary learning their positions better and some of the younger guys who are getting PT will get a chance to bulk up and gain experience. Also offensively we will be better barring injury. I feel like one of the QB's will distance theirselves from the other, (probably Bray) the line will gain experience, Hunter will learn all the routes instead of half, Poole will be back and so will Oku and Neal. Palardy will hopefully develop into the kicker that he was touted to be next year and we can take a step in the right direction. Always got to believe.

Care to back that up?

At LB, we lose Reveiz and gain a healthy King. LBs will be King, Lathers, and Johnson. We also add speed at LB with A.J. Johnson, Harris, and probably Paul as Freshmen.

At DE we lose Walker, who is basically on two bad knees. We get back Ben Martin, and return Smith, Miller, Jackson, and Bohannon.

At DT, we gain Marlon Walls and will add a very good JUCO player in Couch and will also add Carson, Saulsberry, and probably Wright and Johnson/AnotherJUCO guy.

At CB, we will have the same people and add two talented freshmen in Coleman and Thomas and also have another year of developing two potential lockdown corners in Teague and Gordon.

At safety we return Jackson and also return Brewer, who looked very good and will get even better getting adjusted back to football. The safety class we have coming in is beastly in Randolph, Loften, and Martin.

So once again do you care to explain how we are going to be worse?

not about to bother to read the whole thread. this is probably covered... but, he isn't underachieving. Every team we've lost to was supposed to beat us...

Go back and think of your expectations before the season. did you expect us to beat oregon, florida, alabama, etc?

Per Dooley UT had a new RB, QB, and 5 starting OL this year and two of those have been injured. It's hard to say UT is poorly coached with the players having to learn Dooley's methods and preferences. I don't know how new the system is, Chaney was here last year. Maybe he didn't overhaul it.

It's bad, but the lack of fundamentals is what bothers me. The possession where we had like 4 straight penalties on offense was embarrassing.

The best talent on this team has not been around long enough to excel at fundamentals. Several guys who Dooley depends on to try to win games should be wearing red shirts and getting ready to play at the college level.

I honestly wonder if you guys have really looked at this roster. The best DT UT had vs Bama was a RS Fr walk on weighing 260 lbs. Victor Thomas has been around for 5 years and never earned his way to the field. Hughes was hurt. The rest of those guys are apparently so bad that the DE's at 260 lbs or so do a better job.

The coaches are making mistakes. No question. But using this team as a final factor for evaluating these coaches is ridiculous.

Says the guy who is a Swiperboy fan.

Yes, I am a swiperboy fan. Renaldo is a family friend of mine. And I must say that he is one of the nicest young men that I have ever met, if you are a vol fan you should be a fan of him too he is a class act.
Like I say, I am a lifetime vol fan and I'm not here to trash anyone especially college kids. But I just dont think that Dooley is going to get the job done, plain and simple. But i do hope that i am wrong because this is extremely painful to see the vols in the basement with vandy.

here we go again !! same thing as last night !! get a life or another board to go to !! give the man time !!!!!!!!! great day, what an idiot !!!!!!! :banghead2: :banghead2::machgun: :machgun: :devilsmoke: :devilsmoke:

I am down to give him 3 years to get the ship turned around. the last thing that we need to do is turn over another coach right now. I am just unimpressed with the sloppiness of the team at times and the playcalling is horrible. It just seems like to me that he has lost control of this team and honestly i am getting tired of his excuses. Jacksonville State has more SEC wins than we do this year and they are D2, do they have a better team than us? More talent than us? We will definitely see what we are made of with the remainder of the schedule.
