Dooley is over his head

I'm more worried that we are recruiting DEs who can be mistaken for WRs

Except that we are not. At least not actively. We apparently did not even know his name. We also do not really know who Chaney is personality wise. Chaney could have been joking with the Kid because he was so skinny and the kid was to dense to figure it out. Chaney could have also been subtly telling him that if he wanted to play DE in the SEC, he better beef up. Or maybe Chaney wants him to play TE and was just sort of throwing it out there. It could have also been an honest mistake. The fact is that we do not know and it sounds like the people reporting this are a little peeved that they are out of the loop with this staff. Dooley will succeed at TN.

Our recruiting this year is the same as polishing a turd

This statement has about as much value as a stinky turd. I wish we had a flush button.

I agree with all of the sane posters who point out that NSD is 10 freaking months away. As with the results on the field, I will withhold my judgment until there is something to actually judge.

CDD is not going to be the undoing of this program--it will be the fanbase that has decided they will not even give the guy a chance.

CDD and his staff have not proven themselves to be good or great recruiters, and neither have they proven themselves otherwise. We will know more about their coaching ability after September and their recruiting will be known in Feb, until then we are all only guessing.

Dooltabby needs to have a come to jesus meeting with himself and soon.

I'll support TN football even when we suck so bad we are the laughing stock.

However having a coach who can't even get organized enough to know when top recruits are at our own O&W game is atrocious.

Also acknowledging a top 100 DE prospect as a WR is uncalled for.

Call me a negavol , call me what you want.

This isn't the WAC.

Man, no offense but its kinda hard to take you serious when you're using jr. high names for our coach...I really enjoy coming to site and getting valid info but it takes a lot of credibility away when poster do those things...

After a few big wins in 2010, things will quiet down---bank on it.

I was in the shower this morning and started thinking about the Tennessee Oregon game this September (weird I know:)). If we can just come out and play great defense, shut down their run game and get after their new QB, while playing just plain solid offense I really think we can pull out a W in that game.

That could set up a stadium that will just be ready to implode when the gators come to town...Don't give up on the season just yet Vol fans!

i think some wins would heal volnation....but all you people who are like "dooley is doing awsome in recruiting! he is the greatest oh yeah!" also need to have your come to jesus moment-there has been SEVERAL things that keep coming up like them not contacting recruits, recruits not hearing from tennessee anymore, etc....rem last year? there was articles everywhere about how "tennessee was the hottest team out there recruiting" and "tennessee everywhere in the recruiting world". now you cant even get our damn coach to tell us anything about it...

thats why we are not jumping up and down bc we know what this is going to turn out to be and i am not looking forward too the three years of mike shula we are about to go through....havint we been threw enough..????lol

Good lord, people. Some UT fans are the most whiny, negative, and self-entitled people I've ever seen. It's like they are a bunch of jilted lovers, because their girlfriends left them. Look, just because you (and most of us) put all our faith in ole Kiffy, looked past all of the mistakes he made (on the national stage, mind you), and wanted to go mattress burning when he left, does NOT mean that you have to sit here and nitpick every thing that this staff might make a mistake on. Let's let the man field a team and coach a game before we name him an imbecile.

I agree with Lex. Better rest up for the level of suck we will see in the fall.

CDD isn't telling you anything, because YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW!!! It's not his job to keep you in the loop. It's his job to recruit and to coach. I don't care if he NEVER gives a public interview. If he's recruiting well, and we are winning, I'm happy. Also, I don't see anywhere near the number of "dooley is doing awsome in recruiting! he is the greatest oh yeah!" people, as I see "Dooley is the downfall of UT football. Prepare yourselves for 6 win seasons for the next 4 years!!"

...and for the record it wouldn't matter who was on the sidelines for the upcoming season. It has the potential to be brutal.

Dooley needs to hold more pressers to keep the fan interest up and let everyone know what's going on in the program.

no he doesn't and it's exactly the reason the media is blowing up stories like this. They are so used to being spoon-fed by previous coaches that they got lazy. Now they are being forced to actually do a little work on their own and they resent CDD for it.

It also has the potential to be better than 75% of Vol fans expect.

With so many questions at QB across the conference it could turn out better than most expect. I'm just wondering how we plan to put points on the board.

Yes it was going to be rough even if CLK was here.

mountain out of a mole-hill.

I'm not the alarmist ringing the chicken little bell, but when you are thin in the trenches on both sides of the ball, I don't understand how you simply lose track of a prospect...even if it is a fall back.

There is a learning curve to the job. That is fine, but this shouldn't happen. I don't understand what is so hard for people to admit about the incident. It isn't the end of the world. Everybody makes mistakes....and this was a mistake.

When I read all this negative Dooley talk I can't help but think of that stupid Tesha song "Blah, Blah, Blah"

I doesn't much bother me to think that the staff was more focused on Spring practice than on recruiting the past few weeks. I waited seven years longer than I thought necessary for a coaching change. I'm willing to give this guy time to proove or disproove his abilities. I don't really see what choice there is. For those who are already convinced that Dooley is a failure, what do you want Hamilton to do? Fire Dooley right now and go get turned down again by the same list of guys who already declined the job and then find some other coach who is willing to come to program that just fired a guy after 4-5 months because he only has one commitment for next year's recruiting class in April (assuming that such a person exists)? I just don't see what option there is right now than to give the man a chance and see what happens.
