Dooley is over his head

if this wan't a pattern we just chalk it up. But the NC kid was shafted in the same way and verbal's to Clemson. 4 months is plenty of time to get organized and knowing your player's and recruits, soemone should have been assigned to each recruit here, so if 50 show then its not a circus, you break them down by position and have the position coaches TCof business. I was also less than inspired by the spring game and "annoiting" Simms when on record nothing would be decided before fall smells pretty back especially after Simms' performance. Again just wasn't handled right. Add to these facts our loss of players and no verbals and it look like Barney Fife is running the show and it's scary.

I understand the frustration. There is no excuse for what happened to this kid. Add his parent's season tickets and it only makes it worse.

Simms may be fine. If he had Tauren Poole and faced the other defense there is no telling how he would have performed. The particular format they used for the spring game lends itself to this kind of speculation. Yes...I too hoped he would look better than he did.

Nick had more than one opportunity to prove himself. When three staffs have the same assessment it is hard to argue with the end result.

For me, it is too early to call "Barney Fife" even though there is a definite Keystone Cop feel to some of the happenings on the Hill.

heard we hired the WAC mediocrity. HE IS ABSOLUTELY out of his league, at best he is a mid major coach with an average record. But that doesn't concern me as much as the word he was suppose to be so organized. Now this is the second mistake, the kid from NC who was snubbed and verbal's to Clemson and now this mess. It does not bode well, and the apologist just keep on thinking it's not important is their usual comeback. No problem with Aaron not coming back, no problem with Bryce walking, no problem with Stephens feeling shafted, no problem it's early we don't need any verbal's. It is absolute crap and this guy doesn't have a clue and most people are seeing it for what it is. Dooley can't hold Kiffin's jock strap recruiting and that is a fact so please spare me the insulting comparison. This coach is heading down a bad road and unfortunately we have to ride with this loser.

This is hilarious. We're talking about a guy that we don't even like enough to have offered. And at what point do you put the blame on the kid rather than the coaches when the kid called the recruiting office rather than a coach, and all the information on where the recruits need to go is on the friggin' official website. It's not even his first trip to Knoxville or Neyland. The dude didn't have anyone's number to call to figure out where he needed to go? He didn't have the recruiting office's number to find out? There were plenty of other recruits there who had no problem figuring out where they were supposed to be.

I mean, seriously, lets wait to criticize this staffs recruting efforts until February. I promise you we will have a full OL class made up of very talented players. It doesn't look like Trip Thurman will be among them though.

This staffs' recruiting efforts are very focused. They target their guys and the players that they feel they have a real shot at landing and they work their tails off. I think you all will be happy with the results. Things are about to heat up in a really good way in recruiting.

Amen Brother! And on the Mis-speaking thing by Chaney, Do you really think he had nothing going on that day?

I mean, how many DEs look like WRs, obviously this kid needs to put on some mad muscle and weight, WRs as DEs would get dominated in the SEC.

If these two things are all the OP is mad about with this staff, then he should try coaching something, it's harder than you think.

That is really the bottom line. Build your strength for the fall. You may need it.

There are those who will jump on any rumor no matter how insignificant to ***** and criticize. Yeah, let's fire the incompetent SOB over a kid's side of the story or a clerk's error or something. Let the next incompetent SOB come in here so we can fire him to when his grandma cheats on his grandpa or some other stupid similar accusation.

GROW UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Or, go cheer for the Bammers where everything is perfect.

Is it just me or in both of these cases don't the players still say they are still very interested in Tennessee and the coaches are going to be visiting them soon to get to know them better????

Seems to me like no bridges have been burnt so why cry when the milk hasn't been spilt?

umm its not a recruits job to contact the coaches....its the other way around...

im not trying to jump on you but stop looking at this with orange colored glasses....its not the end of the world but it is kind of explaining why we didint have any commitments after the O and W game...

Exactly, and if the coaches did not see fit to contact him, then there is your answer. Case closed. Everyone shut up. I'm sure they knew he was there as a recruit, they just didn't view him as their recruit. And how many commits, exactly does any given school actually get after their spring game is over. Big deal. A recruit ready to commit after a spring game that essentially means nothing, is a recruit that doesn't appear to have a whole of other options on his table.

I'm more worried that we are recruiting DEs who can be mistaken for WRs

Dude, you are hilarious! Let's continue the insulting comparison.

Mistakes, huh? The words "Urban cheated" ring a bell? The town of Pahokee ring a bell? That's just two mistakes to match the two you listed.

How many players left when Kiffin came in? And I seem to remember Kiffin losing a disenfranchised QB last year... The insulting comparisons are almost eerie...

Hypocrite.

Will someone please remove the broken record? I don't understand all this negativity towards our recruiting at this point. Do you honestly believe that Dooley doesn't understand that he has to pull in top notch recruits year after year to get the job done here? He's recruited the SEC before(with success), and I believe he's pretty tight with someone else whose had damn good results( that guy who had Hershel). It's not a certainty that he will fail, nor is it certain he will succeed, but either way there is no point to speculate that they are not working hard or have no idea what is going on in this new world called the SEC.

ONE player with legitimate interest in UT, from a class that won't sign the dotted line for a minimum of 7 months, who's parents have a vested interest, both financially & emotionally, in the prosperity of the school and it's football program....is lost through the cracks on a weekend when dozens of prospects are visiting, along with parents and 35K fans?!?!?!?

Oooohhh the humanity!!! The sky is falling!!! The coach is an idiot!!! Fire him! Fire him NOW!!!

/sarcasm.

I can't wait to hear the next excuse the Dooley haters come up with to tear him down.

Interesting response, but I love the screen name. Reminds me of my favorite Lofton shot of all time. Nothing better than seeing a bunch of wranglers and belt buckles headed to the door after a 6' guard drains a 30 footer in the one and done player of the year.

Thanks Sab, for putting some perspective on this situation.

I am personally getting tired of the negative threads started EVERY day on CDD. It's kind of ridiculous at this point considering he hasn't even coached a single game.

BTW, coach X had the exact same number of recruits at this point last season, folks....

Seconded.

I wasn't on here the yrs before October '08, but I swear its like CDD has already been branded CPF 2.0, and the man hasn't even fielded a team yet.

...and don't kid yourselves, this isn't going to get any better. This season was going to be rough even before January 13.
