Dooley is outpacing Butch Jones in the wins column

Dooley should have never have been the coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. Having been left in a lurch, no coach with the right pedigree would have stepped in to the mess Kiffin left us with right before the national signing day.

GA, USCE, almost Bama.

His first year here and took us to the Chic Fila bowl.

We haven't even sniffed that bowl since.

And I must state I hate your guts for making me defend Kiffin.
:)

So..by saying "he beat a lot of teams", you meant two. Thanks, now we're clear.

The NC State win was in Dooley's 3rd season as Tennessee HC. Good grief!

This kind of mistake could normally be overlooked, but you decided to create a thread to make some (lame) point and tried to substantiate it with statistics.

So we are now bashing the guy who has us competing again? Look at old miss, they were last year what we are this year. We are on the way up for the first time in awhile. Be patient. Im pissed too but gotta be patient. The offensive Coordinator is the problem and some of that blame goes on Butch but lets see what he does about it before we panick.

At this exact spot in Dooley's career here at TN, he had 1more SEC win and 2 more overall wins in his regular season stats than Butch Jones does.

One of those wins was over Butch Jones is a blow out victory.

The other NON conference win over a Major Conference team was NC ST. That coach has since been fired.

Dooley finished 5-7 in his second year.

I am hoping Butch can turn this around and Dooley just had more talent but this is not a good sign.

Please make this dumbass stuff stop. This F'ing fan base kills me some times.

Jones took over a program after Dooley had left it in ashes. If we had the offensive weapons that Dooley had, we'd be 4-1 right now at worst and would have probably went 8-4 last year.

Don't think so, Tyler bray option/run wouldn't fool anyone either. Jmo.

I don't think the culture change that we hear about can be overlooked. Our upper classmen were used to losing and they didn't learn how to win. The only kids not really used to that are the guys Butch has brought, who are all Fr. and So.

Sutton said even last year, people weren't that upset after losses. Now, they're furious and want to make sure it doesn't happen again. I realize we've dropped 3 in a row and it sucks. But, this stuff takes time. I don't think we realized how bad of shape our program was in. Because of his improvements on the recruiting trail, he gets more time than Dooley. That's my two cents.

How in the world could you make this assumption? Its pulled directly from your rear.

Well let's see:

Many have said Bray was a much better QB than Worley.

Last years OL was light years better than this years.

CP, Hunter, Rivera and Rogers were an extremely good corps of weapons. Plus they would have been veterans who were battle tested in the SEC.

Neal has proven that he is a better RB than Lane. Be it because of injuries or whatever. Lane was better.

Last year Jones went 5-7 against the toughest schedule in Tennessee's 123 year history. Now with a veteran QB, RB, OL and WR corps why is so hard to imagine the team COULD have gone 8-4?

Kiffin brought in better players for Dooley then Dooley brought in for Jones.

Dooley's second year he did not played a highly ranked out of conference like Oklahoma.

Bray was a much better deep threat than Worley. He had a much quicker release. With Bray, a veteran OL, CP, Hunter, Rogers and Rivera every team would HAVE to respect the pass.

How did the teams we played compare? 😙

Do any of you idiots saying that Butch isn't doin a good job research anything or watch the games, the d line was still trying anything they could to win even with fla in the victory formation. Something Dooley could never get out of them!

Deflating, yes, but not season-crushing. We were losing to Steve Spurrier-coached conference and national title contenders every year. Last Saturday we lost to a really bad football team led by a really bad football coach.

It was 2011 vs. Kentucky all over again.

Comparing this florida team to the 11 kentucky team is ignorant. Kentucky was awful. Florida has talent all over the field, Kentucky had a wr at qb. Florida is not as bad as you think. 6-6 was/is the goal for this season. Quit whining and watch the season play out. You might be pleasantly suprised.

Anybody that want to see coaching lose a game should actually watch USCe & ky instead of seeing the score & making assumptions

You can't win with 18 year old o-lineman. Why is that so hard for people to understand?

As another poster mentioned, Dooley ran the program into the ground deeper than when he found it. Many on here will disagree (SJT) but they're wrong. You can't just look at stars when making that determination either. Dooley inherited a program that had demolished Georgia, South Carolina, almost upset #1 ranked Bama, and was only 2 years removed from the SEC Championship game. Jones inherited a team that had 3 straight losing seasons, depleted rosters across the board that were NOT developed for the most part, and a "losing is ok" mentality.

To compare the two tenures at this stage is laughable.

Very well put sir.

It's sad about the win/loss record. Butch is definitely outpacing Dooley at recruiting however. And it's not even close.

Florida isn't as good as you believe they will become either. Remember the 1st three quarters of the UF/UT game? Due to the possibility of Driskell remaining the starting QB for that team, UF has 3 more losses remaining at a minimum.

I also don't want Butch fired.

But I do want someone to tell the OC to either stop with the Read crap until we have a Read option QB or to tell Worley you either keep the ball at least once in ever 1o times you pretend to hand off or you are done for the year.

My issue is not with recruiting, or the defense (they are awesome and JUST as young) but I do have issues with the OC....major, major, issues.

This whole zone read thing keeps coming up . There is no QB running threat in this offense . Period . The QB either hands to the running back or keeps ...and passes. The whole play fake carried out by Worley is meaningless. It does not help or hurt . They are running a dive play. The back has all the options. Worley can fake a QB keep , he can stand there , or he can skip backwards down the field singing the Barney song. It is still a simple RB dive . What you want to see is that the RB selects the correct gap in his zone read and that the offensive line blocks the play....which we very rarely ever see one and almost never see both. What you will not see is the QB running a keeper . Again , the play fake by the QB is meaningless and has no positive or negative impact ...its just a dive play .

I dont like aspects of this offense namely not enough blockers for the fronts they see and not enough hot read when they are under blocked . Although this could be a QB recognition and execution issue .

So Fla will lose at least 3 more games because of 1 player, but Tn replacing both lines is losing because Butch can't coach got it .
