Dooley is not the answer

CDD needs time! IMO , its a little to early to tell. I will hold off on a yes or no answer until this time '12. By this time in the '12 season if we're not just killin it in recruiting and on the field then we should think about if he's the right coach or not. IMO,JMO

Love DD as a person, think he's classy and respectable. But I don't think he will get it done. Hope I'm wrong.

A little history lesson for those who may not know.

Vince Dooley (DD's dad) went 6-5 in 1979 with a loss to of all teams Wake Forest and Georgia fans wanted him gone. The very next year 1980 with the addition of only one player (yes you guessed it Hersher Walker) they went 12-0 and won the National Championship

Coach DD has only had one year, and came into a far greater mess...recruiting is going well.... let's see what he can do after 4 years

History lesson that may help. Different sport but same concept. Coach K at Duke was hired by Duke after coming of a 9-17 season with Army. His first 3 years at Duke were 17-13, 10-17, 11-17. Year 4 it began to change and now you have an all world coach with 13 ACC champsionships 4 NC, Olympic Gold, and with a couple more wins will hold all time wins record for men. My point- vast majority of fans said that Coach K could not get it done at Duke and thought he was in over his head and wanted him fired. Looks like history proved them wrong. Give Dooley more than a 18 games to see what he can do.

Define "man for the job"...

I don't think he's going to do anything here of any real note except for replenishing our depth. I'm not completely sold on him and probably won't be until a big year, if it happens.

With that being said, I think he needs a few more years to see if I'm correct in my assertion or not.

i think all you people who think you can do better is go be a head coach for a game and let us tell you how bad you are. Either SUPPORT DOOLEY or GO BE A FAN SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SHUT YOUR DANG MOUTH!!! I support DOOLEY GO VOLS!!!

This.

Not really fair to try and judge him now.

Not only does he have terrible depth but add that into the injuries and having JJ out and there isn't much he can do this year.

When we are around .500 after 2013, everybody will know it's time. It blows my mind how many people refuse to even contemplate whether Dooley will be successful when we are paying dearly for keeping Fulmer several years too long.

One of the smarter points made in this entire thread.

Our fan base is so dumb. Anyone who expected better than 6-7 wins was out of their mind. Bray and Hunter going down makes 7 very unlikely. We are so young and no depth. This has been stated by most reasonable fans from the beginning. Where are the high expectations coming from?

We are starting Freshmen and sophomores all over the place. I don't know if Dooley is the answer or not, but for those expecting better don't understand football and the state of the Vol football program with the mess Fulmer and Kiffen left behind.

We will lose badly to Bama. We will probably lose badly to Arkansas. We could pull the upset against SC, but i certainly wouldn't expect it. We should beat Vandy, and we better beat KY and MTSU. This is where this team is.

Did you "negavols" see the interview with W Peyton...first of the third quarter?????
He said "Dooley will get the program truned around and bring it back to the glory days of the '90's....and Wilcox is a rising star and he hopes we can keep him"..........

That's all I need to know!!!!
The rest of you can kiss my Orange ..!@#$%

I fear that the fans/boosters will run Dooley out before he gets a chance to build this team up with players and depth. And if this happens we will end up meeting him in the future at another SEC school (Ole Miss, Miss State, GA, Kentucky, etc..) We have a winner, we just need to give him time to build up some depth with his players and his system.

No need to fear. A lot of the posts I have seen are from the halftwits that one never see's over in the recruiting section. They have not a clue in what CDD is bringing in.The force, face and quality of this team will be completely different next year. We will see familiar faces (Bray, Hunter, Rogers, Maggit, Lane, Young) to name but a few of our quality players, but you will also see a gauntlet of quality young players that our coaches have recruited - many will be EE's. 2012 will be a very good year for UT. 2013 will be better.

the same dribble by the same people. the man still hasn't shown he can coach anywhere. team should be looking better in some areas but we will let the doolittle off with his excuses. peyton says he is the answer but others like fair and levine see the truth.
