Dooley is not the answer

We are impatient passionate fans. I think our game plan was definitely flawed tonight on offense, for sure. With the top-rated passer in the league, we decided to run the ball. Those third and 13's did not work out very good. Anyone who thinks otherwise about our plan is drinking or high.

I am a fan til I die, but this was the most disappointing game in the Dooley era for me because we got outcoached. With a young team, mistakes have to be minimal. Mistakes by the coaches' decisions magnifies that even more.

GO VOLS!!

Negavol, troll, that is ignorant, bla, bla, bla. Say what you want, we are horrible. We are far far worse than any Fulmer team I ever saw. We MAY be able to beat Vanderbilt and Kentucky. Otherwise, we will be lucky to win any other SEC team. This year and last year are the two most pathetic Tennessee teams in my lifetime. We are HORRIBLE!!

what stands out to me about this coaching staff is their profound ineptitude to come out of the half and do anything well against quality opponents. we always lose games in the third quarter. i don't think dooley should be on the hot seat yet, but i have zero confidence in his ability to coach right now.

I hate to say it.. I like dooley a lot.. but I'm thinking the samething..he and his staff are getting out coached in every aspect of this game.. I think its time to open up the wallet and get a proven coach who knows what he's doing.

Not saying you're wrong, but I'd put up with 2 more years of Dooley before I'd go through more years of attrition and thats all another coaching change would really accomplish this soon. Let Dooley get his so called guys in here to play in his system, and in 2014 if they still suck, make the change then. We should have more talent by then.

oh believe me, i dont wanna be looking for another coach, i like dooley a lot as a person, but if he cant get the job done, then that will put us back even further. need to start seeing improvements.

yeah i'm half way with you, I'm just praying that after another recruiting class that looks very talented in 2012, we may be a better team...hope thats all it is. Hope our coach isnt a too nice, clueless guy.

I have been on the Dooley wagon until last night. We had pretty much 3 weeks to prepare for UGA and didn't get it done. Yeah I know we played last week I would consider that a glorified scrimmage though. I want to know what happened to the coach who had some balls? UGA went for it on 4th in the first drive twice right? We have a 4th down with 8 minutes left and we punt? I realize it was 4th and 3 and theirs was 4th and 1. Still though you cant punt when your down 2 td's. We were never in this game mentally for physically. We will be beaten like a drum the next 3 games. Dooley is no where in the same league coaching wise as Miles or Saban. And for those of you who love to laugh about Miles. Saying every team has a chance of winning with him coaching need to get a clue. His teams win games. End of story. We need a winner on our sideline and we didn't have one last night. Dont give me the talent gap as an excuse either. I am sick and tired of hearing how we dont have talent. Talent didn't lose the game last night poor coaching did.

look sloppy wtf are they working on in practice

Apparently we worked on our new Jets sweep look. Instead of getting a holding call to put us 10 yards back. We use it to put us 10 yards back and lose the down. Pretty quality new plan.

end of story

I disagree and think all that thinks as you do a fair weather band wagon jumpers with no heart, let me explain something to you one idiots like d coordinator Chavis helped to leave the roster depleted, Dooley is the answer you don't win in this league even with talent having to play Freshman and Sophmores. We need probably 2 more quality recruiting cycles, if your don't have the patients for rebuilding don't let the door hit you in your a$$ on the way out the door.

Talent and recruiting had nothing to do with the loss last night. Piss poor coaching did. Wilcox did not dial up any pressure on 3rd downs. Chaney called the sweep 2 more times after losing 6 yards the first two times. And Dooley well how about we get some balls and go for a 4th with 8 minutes left and down by 2 td's.

This is a stupid thread. He loses a game that I for one thought would be hard to win. Chaney might not be the answer, wilcox is definitely not the answer, but Dooley is a good coach.

Now we have lost Bray and Hunter, most likely for the rest of the season, and you want to go on a firing rampage? Come on man

we have talented players they are just young. need a young coach that can bring some serious excitement to the program. might as well bring chuck smith in and let him run the program. couldn't be any worse. AD needs to earn his money

We had a young coach that could bring some excitement and all he brought were thugs, embarrassment and instability. What we need is for people to be realistic in their expectations. I love the VOLS too and am heartbroken when I see where we are compared to where we have been but I am not so short sighted that I don't understand it will take us time to get back there. Some of you act like its only a matter of coming in and righting the ship and it's not. It's building a ship and that can not happen over night. I support CDD and I support my VOLS!

Here are some facts that need to be considered when breaking down the coaching staff

1. Our O Line is being whipped at the point of attack, youth is not an acceptable excuse, teach players technique and zone blocking ( coaching )

2. Our Defense has youth across the board but it appears to me we never line up right and it causes us to give up the big plays down field in the passing and running game. ( coaching )

3. Special Teams - the worst I have ever seen from the Vols in watching them for 45 years. ( coaching )

The only 2 coaches on the team that I feel are worth keeping are Chaney and Thompson and they were here when Dooley was hired. If DD wants to keep his job he needs to get better at evaluating his staff and get a better defensive coordinator and an O line coach. Last I saw of Boise St this year their defense has not missed Wilcox 1 bit, so perhaps he was not the coordinator people thought he was.

I am not a DD supporter nor am I a nega vol or a DD basher, I just feel he is not the man that can get the job done as a HC and is better off being part of a staff in his chosen profession.

Throw him out? Seriously? How about the following:

-Bad Luck: Overall, losing your game changing WR, your best QB in the last 10 years is poss out 4-6 weeks, best LB still out and best SS can't get his crap together off the field so he gets cut loose on top of not having ANYONE left from 3 years back except for a lousy RB that comes up crying everytime he gets hit. Take away 4 big pieces from any other SEC team and tell how well they do.

-Last Night: Yes, we lost. Couldn't have come out flatter in the 3rd Q and didn't hurry their QB once. But the way 3 calls went last night at big moments didn't do us any favors. We had UGA stopped twice on third down, once in the Red Zone, and they got bailed out by BS pass int calls, even by ESPN standards. Take those away and UGA is left with a punt and a FG. Then call the PI where Rivera gets shoved down in the end zone and give us 6 (would say 7 but MP couldn't kick a ball over Little Miss Moffit) and things become a lot more interesting

No one will come. We couldn't even get Calhoun from Air Force...

I agree that we got out coached some. But Dooley not the answer remains to be seen. Could u win with young players who are not performing in my opinion. Do kinda miss Chavis, he was defense genious. I don't care for his mindset about how to treat the young players. He really needs to chew some arses when they do not do what is expected. I am getting really frustrated but I keep telling myself we are getting there. Wish we hurry up and get there, tired of being laughing stock level sec. Can't kick anything unless its up the centers tail. At least Young is a spark on ST. I gotta stop.

Agreed, I thought those calls were terrible and really hurt us with our youngs guys. We are just not as lucky as GA, FL, Auburn, and couple others with all the bs calls that they get. We just don't get them.
