To all of you that don't like Dooley you've got to be crazy. He should be your favorite coach too. Why you ask? Because he's our coach. He's the one wearing orange on our sideline so he's my favorite coach.

Seriously, besides he is "our" coach, what do you really like about him? The more I look I acutally like his pedigree besides his last season at La Tech. I like what he is saying in his press conferences. The sticking point for me, however, is what will his staff look like. I was hoping he would retain Cregg, especially since OL is so important this year in recruiting. I like keeping Chaney. I guess it is wait and see on the rest.

Stupid reason, IMO. I don't like him automatically because he is on our sideline.

Don't get me wrong, I support him and hope to gawd he does well. But I am to the point where I need to see actual results before I really like him as a coach. Just like Kiffin, his results as a head coach are suspect. If he is a good coach, it's time to prove it.

Saban thinks very highly of him and has taken him with him from LSU to Miami and would've brought him to Bama had CDD not took the La-Tech job. Saban imo is the top coach in CFB so that says enough for me.

I like your enthusiasm, but I love the University of TN. There are many many coaches out there that I would not want and would not support as the coach of the Vols. I don't know much about DD yet, and I'll form my opinion down the road. Right now, I simply support the Vol football program. I liked the Kiffin hire at the time, until I got to know more about the guy. I don't dislike this hire, but again, I'm clueless as to what DD is all about. MH hired him, and I suggest he's still mostly clueless about what DD is as a coach and person. We just have to wait and see. I'll try to keep an open mind as things unfold.

I will state that my initial reaction to his personality and over all presence is positive. I found his speech encouraging and he seems to have a really good attitude, especially coming into the situation. The statistics of his previous coaching job are decent and it appears that he did quite a bit with what he had.

That said, I don't think anyone has absolutely any idea how he will actually perform running a major program in the toughest conference in the country. Until I start seeing some coaching, game calls, and player performance I can't say if he is a good fit for the university or not.

In the mean time, as a die hard Vol I will show him as much support as possible until he is afforded the opportunity to show and prove.

Some people will love a coach and stick with him no matter what he does on or off the field (as long as he has orange on). Some people will never like a coach no matter what he accomplishes (if they didn't like the hire). As for me, there are some coaches that would have turned me off completely but not many fall in that category. That being said, I backed Lane and I'll back Dooley. I like Dooley's personality actually and after our last crew, he feels like a cool summer breeze blowing into TN.

Very impressive young coach, let's count our blessings, man will win big here now that he will have blue chip type talent to coach. See Jim Tressel at that little school he coached at before moving up to the big time as good example. Or Urban Meyer at Utah before UF. As for La Tech's record while CDD was coach there not being that great, remember that he had to recruit against LSU and most other SEC west teams in his backyard.

This is my opinion exactly. Saban only wanted him along each one of his stops, but hey I'm sure all of the monkeyspanks on this site that are hating on CDD know way more about football than Saban.

It was in a previous incarnation....and now he's back! With his new body he should again rule the football world! He also will give you a swaller of white likker if you'll pay him back some day.

He's by far my favorite coach! No one even close. :dance2:

Not only is this a good reason to stand behind the man, but your 1st choice Muschamp also recommeded him!

Also if we fully supported a loud mouth hotshot that has ridden his dad to everything he's gotten in life then we can support a lesser known but more qualified coach. I've read where fans come on here and don't like coaches. We need to give him a chance before we don't like him. Everybody wanted Kirby Smart and Muschamp but Dooley has more experience as a HC than Smart or Muschamp. He has the same type of pedigree as Kiffin but he has class. Give him a chance and I think he won't disappoint us.

Did you know that of dooleys 8 losses last year, every team that beat la tech made it to a bowl and only one lost their bowl game. I was skeptical and not completely sold on him, but it is nice to have someone at the helm that understands the sec, will take our traditions to heart and has some intelligence.

The OP was right all along. My ears are still ringing from all his screaming and chanting for Dooley when kiffin was the coach.

Gotta give him props.
