I know most everyone one here supports Dooley as do I. But for all of those who dont...I dont understand why you are so delusional to think that with all that has happened to our program in the last few years that we would be a 10 win team. Fulmer was our downfall because his inability to evaluate and recruit top talent after the 90's. Fulmer's last 2 classes were awful! with the exception of Berry (which we probably wouldn't have gotten if his dad didnt play here).

As much as I hate it...I have to give Kiffin credit. He put together 2 top 10 classes with guys who can really play ball. I give Dooley credit for holding Kiffin's last class together and pulling Darick and Hunter in the last minute.

Dooley is going to do a great job. He as a great staff, but you have to be realistic and not think that we are not going to win 10 games just because we are Tennessee. Just remember...Saban went 6-6 with Alabama in his first year and Pete Carroll went 5-6 his first year.

I think that we have some serious playmakers but we are very very young and like anything else its going to take some time. I know this wont change anyones minds but its just my opinion.

I agree with you. Plus the ones that are Dooley haters are not true Vol fans. We got one of the youngest teams in the SEC. And of the 12 games 6 are against the top 25. Not Dooley fault we are in this mess.

:good!: I STILL am glad Dooley is our ball coach, and I will fight to show my support for EVERYTHING Tennessee till the day I die. Anyone else that does not believe in Dooley can find a new team to gripe about as far as I am concerned. F*** all the negative Nellies.

 blah. blah blah blah blah....Kiffen, blah, montey blah...recruits...blah...

For the love of man, get off the past, leave Fulmer alone (he dont work here anymore) bottom line TN got gassed in the 2nd Half, and all those freshmen showed that its hard to beat a team of upperclassmen...When people go back to Fulmer, its like Obama still blaming everything on Bush...at some point we have to hold our coach accountable, and that time will be later in the year, when we play people we should beat. I picked 31-10 Oregon...I figured it would not be close, and no matter who Fulmer did or did not recruit, and no matter what kiff. did or did not do, this was Dooleys game, and we lost big time. But I am not hating on Dooley, thats just a tough way to start a career with the way the program has been handled...you know by Mike Hamilton

Hold him accountable for what? having 18 freshman on the 2 deep? having 5 brand new offensive lineman? Having an inexperienced quarterback? Have virtually 1 defensive tackle and playing 250lbs defensive ends to try and compensate for the lack of depth? What exactly do you want to hold him accountable for?

Good post! Tn. showed some real potential in the 1st half of yesterday's game. Will be interested to see if the conditioning gets better with our young team. If ya wanna be better than everyone else, ya better be outworking everyone else. Look forward to watching Coach Dooley & Staff improving this team, he's got talent to work with. It's just going to take some time.

Ok quiz kid if you go back and read my whole post, I said we would hold him accountable later this year, when the team plays others that we should beat, or at least hang in there with...thats when...read it again...READ

Do I support DD? Yes I do. He is the coach so I'm stuck with it.
Do I think it was a good hire? No I don't
DD will coach his contract out and that is when we will FINALLY cough up the big bucks for a great coach.

I did READ D-bag!...Dooley should get a pass this season and do the best with what he has. Next year and the year after is when you hold him accountable. If everyone had your way of thinking Alabama would have held Saban accountable for going 6-6 and losing to LA Monroe his first year. Wake up!

The summer injuries even compounded the personnel issues that we have this year...all these young players still have a high school level maturity and no senior leadership to guide them. Last night they fell flat after a couple of bad plays that went against them and that's a big learning curve for them to overcome. We have a good set of coaches that have to show these kids how to grow mentally (without the benefit of senior leaders) so that their physical abilities can be utilized. It's gonna take time and the real fans of this team will stand by the players and coaches whether up or down.

look at Kiffin's last top 10 class anf how many ARE NOT on the team anymore...definitely not a top 10 class looking at the players we have left....Dooley is a good coach IMO, I think he'll get the program turned around, we just need to give him a couple years to do it.

You are a real genius.

Thank you . I am by no means hating on DD it is what it is. He is a guy with a great opportunity and I hope he makes the best of it. Do I think DD is the long term answer? No I don't.
DD has, shall we say out kicked his coverage. IF he works out... great if not... and you need to be prepared for that. The AD (whoever that may be)needs to hire a great coach. Cheers.

When dooley recruits the kind of talent that florida and bama has, he'll get it turned around. It will take 2-3 years at least.

Question is, are WE as a fanbase willing to grant him that time? Us Tennessee folks don't take to losing well.
And the bottom line is asses in seats that count.
Cheers.

that if we don't fawn over Dooley we are not real UT fans what a crock. The fact is that we don't expect miracles but we do expect his teams to compete. 1/2 a game is not competing period. His plan of recruiting two and three star good citizens can not get it done in the SEC. It will relegate us to mediocrity. Tell me coaching special teams was good? Tell me not using an All American tight end is good coaching? And please tell me how having your team lay down for 2 quarters is good coaching? I am awaiting your reply, this from an alum, vasf member and season ticket holder so don't tell me I am not a true fan.

I agree. After the game last night, I figured I would get on here and there would be some people calling for him to get fired after one loss. I see great potential..... just gotta have faith!

You can't really make a fair assessment of DD's coaching ability after 2 games. Who (really) could have done better with this TN team. Sadly, we are not a good football team this year. We are not even as good as we were last year and that team was just average. Lane said we would take a step back this year and we have. Maybe DD is the man or maybe he is a terrible coach, we just don't know yet.
