We just couldn't "catch a punt".... really ? How many returns for TDs did we have ? How many kicks were missed, how many extra points, how much field position was gained/lost.... really ?

Tennessee was in the top ten in kickoff coverage....9th, I believe. Look it up if you want. That's a huge improvement.

Love seeing Dooley when he heard the ref give the decision on the replay, can clearly read his lips "You gotta be s&^&&%*&* me"!

I vote to fire Dooley, Pearl, Summitt re-hire Fulmer and fire him again, call Buzz Peterson's employer and demand he be fired and do the same for Ray Bussard's daughter and tell them that we the proud Vol Nation will settle for nothing less than perfection every year. Some of you need to find something other than Vol athletics to do as you obviously can't handle adversity.Give Dooley more than a year and if he can't get it done then can him.As far as recruiting goes he's not doing a bad job and there are plenty of highly rated prospects interested in UT but I guess if you can't pull in 25 5* recruits every year then you must suck at recruiting.Go back to playing Madden and keep convincing yourself that you know how to coach a football team because you just finished 3rd in fantasy football.

You tell 'em, J! I'm too mad!

GO VOLS!!

If you were watching the Dooley TV show when Charlie Baggett was featured, you have to feel better about recruiting than all the naysayers on here. The star system doesn't mean much to this staff. They go to a prospects school to find out about things like their academics, conduct and work ethic. They also like to sit down with their family to judge more than just their football skills. I expect less trouble out of future players and these coaches will judge each player individually against their experience of what it takes to grow as a player. Remember they have college and NFL experience so they know what they want to build this program and team.

GO VOLS!!

9th...horrid I tell you. Whatever we were this season was much better than last year.

Maybe he doesn't want to cherry pick them.

We were also 111th in punt returns, down from 55th last year. We were 68th in KO returns, down from 28th. Our FG unit is still a problem. It looks a lot like one step forward, one step back.

Note: nice edit.

Things to be hyped about: Our offense is getting better (at least the passing game) and should continue to do so.

Things to be bummed about: Our defense (especially the front 7) needs some serious work.

As for the rest, we finished about where we should have finished. Most people had us anywhere from 4-8 to 6-6. I think Dooley stablized this team and now the question is can he turn this team into contenders (in the SEC) by 2012? I guess we'll just have to stay tuned to see how it plays out.

Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, Dooley is the man Tennessee needed right now. Don't know how he will turn out as a gameday coach yet. That is still to be seen. In other words, Dooley may not turn out to be Mr Right, but he is definitely Mr Right Now. He has gained trust, re-instilled confidence on the team and throughout most of the fanbase. I do understand there are still a lot of skeptics. There always will be. I get it at this time though. What Dooley is doing for our image and for our players personal development is something this program has sorely needed since a few years before the Fulmer Cups' inception. The VFL program will become a huge benefit for us for many years down the road. IMO, with Dooleys' experience, upbringing around SEC coaching, fire, dedication, organization, commitment to excellence on and off the field coupled with his eye for talent(coaches and players), exceptional communication skills, salesmanship, and love of our traditions, he will also turn out to be Mr Right for the long term.

Anyone who knows football should be able to see that our future looks bright. We have alot of young talented players getting early playing experience, including A Quraterback, and some freakishly athletic Receiviers with a huge up side. The young Ol has all the physical tools as well and most of them will have been together for three years in 2012. And on the bright side I think this loss will keep these guys from getting a big head going into the off season which will give us talented players with a chip on there shoulder in the offseason

But we still suck. Dooley may well be on to things, I hope so, but we go into the offseason with many more questions than answers.

dooley was a head coach 3 years before he got to Tennessee, and didn't win then either

so if you count those 3 years 17-20
and this year 6-7

not real impressive

Negavol? That's all the way from .459 to .461... he is improving.

I understand our proud tradition, and everyone desiring for our program to be back on top, but ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! I am by no means someone who sees the situation through rose (orange) colored glasses, but the job that Dooley did this year to unify, motivate, educate and instill maturity into these players was nothing short of remarkable. As a coach for 23 years, I am amazed that he took a fractured group of young men and created a team who exhibited the character of a champion. We all knew that this years team was young and inexperienced. Why on God's green earth do some of you self righteous fans think that for every negative outcome, it is your duty to point out every one of your perceived shortcomings in our beloved program. I am not naive enough to think that the masses will one day evolve into true fans who support their team regardless. However, I do expect that even those will little knowledge regarding this sport will understand that the achievements of this young team far exceeded their expectations for this year. How do you fix a program in ruins? The answer is, one area at a time. This coaching staff is very good. Let them do their job, and for crying out loud, Rome was not built in a day.

What was remarkable about beating UT Martin, UAB, Memphis, Ole Miss, Vandy and Kentucky?
