Dooley = Genuis?

All he is saying is that Dooley did a ton of good La. Tech. He left the program in a much better state than where it was when he arrived.

Could it be argued that Fulmer left us better off? Probably, because he left us with a NC. But in reality we were on a clear decline.

Kiffin is seriously not even worth discussing. He might has well never been here. Whatever good he did while he was in Knoxville went right out the door the day he left. He has just prolonged our eventual rise to relevance an extra year.

Ton of good?

Dooley's predecessor at La Tech winning pct: overall 45.2 % conference 52 %
Dooley's winning pct at La Tech: overall 45.9 % conference 50 %

I don't see it!

Right now it's an extra 5 mil investment to tell coach Dooley to walk. Thats before we throw atleast that much, a year, at one of those "big names" some of you want.

Your right, and if we give him another year or 2 to flop as he has it will be 4 million for him to walk. I say it's worth the million now to have a chance at winning again.

Short post. Only requires ability to understand small numbers.

Dooley is 14-16 at UT...

...4-14 in the SEC, with 3 of those wins against Vandy and UK...

...0-3 against UF and UGA, 0-2 against Bama and USCe (so far)...

...still looking for that "first big win" against a ranked opponent...

...whatever "Phase" UT football is in, it's time to phase out, and go in a different direction.

When the posturing, speculation, and opinionating is done, what remains is the raw data, which cannot be denied...or explained away.

Go Vols.

Per DocVol: Be careful. Factual data, logical thoughts and statistical information is not welcome on VN.

Here is the way I see it. Is it worth 4-6 million dollars to roll the dice on Dooley? I don't think it is. If he had shown he could win, he would have something to say time will heal things. All we are doing now is investing in hope. He's never been a winner, it's a bad investment.

I get it. I do. But why not just wait and see what happens this year? We still have over half a season left. We saw progress against UGA. I expect more progress Saturday. I expect us to give Alabama all they can handle when the time comes. Tons of memories left to make. Why is everybody so desperate to predict everything and make a decision about him today?

He is our coach for 2012. This won't change. His opportunities to change people's opinions about him are coming. One way or the other he will get an extra year if he deserves it, and he will get fired if he deserves it.

I'll support it either way.

I can see what you're saying...but you also have to figure in our asst coaches. We have several on two year deals. We'd have to buy them out too.

Thats alot of jack esp when you would be wanting to throw even more at the next staff.

My answer to that is simple. I would have fired him last year after the UK game. My past posts are very clear to this point. I feel that every game he coaches is another game UT falls behind the rest of the SEC. Every day he is recruiting for UT is another day we fall behind. I don't need to see him get beat by Bama again to know where we stand. I don't need to see James Franklin take his squad of 2 star talent at Vandy and give Dooley the fight of his life AGAIN. Why do I need to see this defense give up 450+ yards to Troy to know we are headed in the wrong direction? God forbid UK start a WR at QB this year. We all know how that turns out. Some fans hold out hope. IMO, they have just lowered expectations.

Buying CDD out plus 4-$6m for the new HC would add 11-$12m to the $12M UTAD is currently paying in buyouts. (total,by the time installments are finished)

Did not read. Dooley and word genius will never go together

No really....you should read it. It's much different then all of the other threads posted by the lovers of mediocrity. In this one, our hero Dooley has devised an ingenious scheme to lull our adversaries into a false sense of security before he pounces on them like a jungle cat.

Fans have become so used to losing that they want to keep giving the nice guy a chance. Sad really.

While I do not think 12 million (current buyout) is accurate(I would assume your including the whole Fulmer buyout which is about paid off), that is the question Hart has to ask himself. Is losing for the next few years worth saving some cash? Hart may decide it is. He is not a UT guy. He did not grow up with UT pride and may not worry about the loses like fans do. It may take him seeing an empty stadium to get the message. If we lose to MSU, I think he will get that message during the Troy game. 50,000 empty seats will send a pretty strong message.

Sorry you feel that way. I don't think fans lower expectations. I think losses do. I'm trying hard to see the big picture for this team though. I admit, it's hard for me at times. I want to win just like you. But I can't say with full confidence that we are headed in a bad direction. What you see as excuses, I tend to see as obstacles.

We were in a hole when Kiffin left us. The hole's not deeper now than it was then. We just haven't completely gotten out of it yet. I feel like we're climbing though.

If we average 70,000 seats full out of 102,000 empty seats at $45.00 per seat for 2 seasons not including concession sales and merchandise sales....

Dave Hart is looking at losing $14,400,000 dollars from the OP's Dooley Progressive plan for just 2 seasons of mediocre football.

This is a business...if your employees were costing you that much in profit per year and not keeping you at the top of your business competition, would you fire them and hire someone with a much more proven resume or keep them and continue to let them be nonproductive?

That pretty much says it all IMO.

Your nothing but a negative pos, you add nothIng to thIs board. Why don't you go put a Bama sticker on your car ( if there's not one already on it) because the University of Tennessee doesn't need bandwagon/faIr weather fans like you. Troll

I lulzed...thanks

Dooley is a guy who needs more than 3 years like some coaches. I don't know if he will get the chance. I'm not saying he is the guy but few seem willing to give him time or understand that he isn't a miracle worker. Well see.

Geez when Kiffin left we were upset he looked at us as a "stairstep" job, and now we are the "training school for beginners?"

Dooley is awesome!

Dooley Sucks!

You are NOT a fan!

Yes I am, but I am a realist!

No you are a negavol!

I think that about sums it up.

I think this sums up just about every thread on VN with the exception of those about Tattoos, BBQ and discrimination lawsuits.

Another thing that is funny is that you guys blame everything on Dooley. It's like you don't know that Dooley doesn't call plays. It's like you believe Dooley is completely responsible for developing a game plan. It's like you think Dooley is the one that runs out of gas in games.

So, it's Dooley's fault that Kiffin left a couple weeks before signing day? It's Dooley's fault that Janzen Jackson and Darick Rogers had a drug problem? It's Dooley's fault that Tyler Bray broke his thumb and Justin Hunter tore his ACL. It's Dooley's fault that because of a flawed rule (which got changed by the way) UNC was able to get close enough to score on us in the bowl game? It's Dooley's fault that the economy has tanked and less tickets are being sold (you guys blame this on the losing record, but every stadium in every sport is having these same problems)?

Here's what I have seen:

In 2010, Dooley took a roster that was worse than the roster in 2009 (Kiffin even said 2010 would be worse than 2009, and by the way, Kiffin lost to a dreadful Ol Miss team and got absolutely slaughtered by an ACC team in a bowl game) and he almost beat LSU on the road and still went to and almost won a bowl game (and should have if not for the lack of a runoff rule).

In 2011, our offense was ticking like a clock. If you watch the season up to the point Hunter got hurt, we were rolling. Florida couldn't stop us until he got hurt. The our season went in the crapper. I was watching when Hunter got hurt and I even told the people around me that I thought our season was done because of that injury. Hunter was unguardable.

Now, in 2012, despite Dooley still not having a group of seniors yet, or anyone from any team that knows what it's like to win at a D-1 level, we are competing. I see it as we learn to win this year, and next year we apply the knowledge.

Some of you want so badly for something to go wrong that you exaggerate it when it does. I saw someone in this thread say that teams at other schools always play focused and that's where coaching comes in. Yeah, well, tell that to Georgia about Saturday. They looked really focused. Or tell that to the Saban-coached Bama team that lost to Utah badly in a bowl game. Or tell that to Boise State, which despite always having a great season always seems to have at least one disastrous loss. Get off of Dooley until at least the season is over, because until then you guys sound like biased crybabies.

And by the way, the OP had 99 likes the last time I checked and a smart @** nega comment had 16 right below it. You negas are in the minority, which helps me have more faith in society.

Those saying we have a bad recruiting class this year must not be following recruiting. We have the #1 rated RB saying we are his top school choice right now. We also have the #2 rated OG leaning to us. Another highly rated JUCO WR has us as one of his top choices. There is talk that the #1 rated DE is really gaining interest in us and could possibly flip from Auburn to us.

So don't say we have a bad recruiting class till everyone signs on the dotted line.
