Dooley for 2 more years !!!

Hell, Dooley and this team helped me win $2800 last night. I'm ok with him staying now. :p Anyway, some folks on here act like we used to win national championships every year. I do believe some posters have no idea what they want. This is SEC football and all teams are going to lose games. LSU, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama will always have an advantage over us simply due to in state talent.

Even if he isn't the one to lead us back to glory, he will be responsible for setting up the next coach nicely. I'm with the guy.

He has made the job easier than what he had. Some of that is being here long enough to fill the roster back up. How much is yet to be determined.

We must win one of the next three for Dooley to keep his job IMO. Won't be easy on the road at MSU, home against Bama, and then on the road at SC. If we lose all three, we would have to win out just to get to 7-5.

7 to 8 wins, was what i thought at the start of the year,a lot did,now it is suppose to be 9 wins or better, but i do think he will pull one out of that 3

How many ranked teams has Dooley led teams ever won against?

Zero.

Facts, they come in handy sometimes.

see perfect example of someone who believes you should be winning with half the talent other shcools have. filling an empty cubbard is takes time. i do not however expect you to comprehend.

I thought it would take 8 wins to save his job when the season started; I believe that is still very possible. My fear, though, is that he drops the next three and then stumbles in November against someone we should beat. With a 6-6 record, I think he's gone for sure; 7-5 I'm not so sure.

I've been on this board for a couple of years and there have been a couple of good posters thru the year. I decided to give an "honest" view of our team. Here we go:

Bray--- good qb with a great arm but never checks down and he throws the ball too hard sometimes. He missed Hunter across the middle twice early which could have gone for a TD.

CP-- very raw but talented and still doesn't know the plays. Several times he never adjusted his route as well as Hunter.

Hunter. Great athlete playing WR. Doesn't adjust his routes or read coverages very well.

Rivera-- good SEC TE but has no help. Losing Clear killed our depth.

OL-- all 5 will play on Sundays.

Neal-- he's a great athlete who is learning to play RB. I'm very impressed with his improvement. Once he learns to pick up his feet, he'll break a couple this year.

Chaney-- I think he called a good game for the first time in a while. He didn't give up on the run game like he normally does.

I'll hang up and listen. Thanks

If he wins at least 8 this year and at least 10 next, with a ridiculous top 5 recruiting class in I could concur.

Steve Spurrier is considered a great coach by most but it's taken 7 years to get USCe to having a good team and high ranking.

CDD deserves 2 more years and here's why...

All SMART people knew that when CDD took this job it was a total rebuilding task that would take 4 to 5 years of good recruiting to even have us close to competing with the top SEC teams.

CDD now has 2 of HIS recruiting classes on campus and they're Sophs and Freshmen but look close and you'll see lots of SEC type talent in those 2 recruiting classes so our talent level IS going up consistently as is our depth.

With 2 more good recruiting classes the 1st CDD recruiting class will be seniors and CSS will have our new 3-4 D running smoothly and we'll be a very tough team to beat.

In college it's a 4 year recruiting rotation but FIRST you have to have a solid team and then the recruiting rotation is simply to replace the good players that leave every year or as some call it...reloading like the top SEC teams and really good teams across the country does.

Unlike most I do understand the process and how long it takes to totally rebuild a program that became 1 of the worst programs in the country.

I want to Win alot of games right damn NOW like everyone else does but that's simply not how it works in college football unfortunately.

I do see consistent improvement and I'm sure AD Hart sees it too so like it or not CDD will be here at least next season but it's only fair to let him get 4 of HIS recruiting classes on campus and then see where we're at.

If you don't see improvement already after almost beating the 5th ranked team in the country then I suggest you go see a eye doctor soon, LOL.

VFL...GBO!!!

Your wrong on Spurrier, his first season at USCe, 2005, he won 5 straight SEC games including against unranked UT, and #12 UF.

Tired of all the Negas getting the Spotlight. So I started a Positive Dooley thread.

I think he gets 2 more years to purge the program and create stability. He's smart, well spoken, and a Helluva motivator ! Also he has proven to be an excellent recruiter and manager of our team, leading with discipline and character.

Discuss if you like.
I see you're caught up in "The Process" as well, eh? :) Must be the same kind of Jedi Mind trick Fulmer tried to pull on the fanbase. Thought if he said "Work Like Heck + Will have to Watch the Film" enough, that the fans minds would turn to mush.

I believe that CDD spoke at the SEC Media days and said "for the first time we have depth on both sides of the ball", and " you wont have Tennessee to kick around anymore." So now were back to we don't have any players?

There is one problem with your post. Alabama and Florida have the ability to hire good/great proven coach's and we don't have that ability.

Butch Davis said "No" Jon Gruden said "No" Bill Cowher said "No" Lovie Smith said "No" Muschamp said "No" The coach at T.C.U. said "No" The coach at Air Force said "No" The coach at Boise State said "No"
Brian Kelly said "No"

With Alabama Rich Rodriguez said "No" Saban said "Yes"

With Florida, Urban "Cryer" said "Yes"

Do you see a pattern??? No one wants to come to U.T., unless they are at a lower level school and U.T. would be a raise for them..... Louisana Tech for instance..

Just be content with Dooley because no one else will come to U.T......

This, except for your last line. Plus Dooley grew up watching Tennessee and has a feel for its tradition. I think he appreciates Tennessee's potential far more than those other coaches. Despite the half a team that he inherited, he probably considers it a plum job in college football, while those other coaches really don't.

The real measuring stick for me is recruiting. In the SEC your schuduling top quality opponents every year. Weak recruiting interest in an athletic program that grosses $100,000,000.00 a year on a bad year is what our coaches are facing. Not ideal. Not fixable in less than 5 years. People seen AL hit pay dirt with Saban & now everyone thinks that's obtainable right off the shelf like a box of wheaties. 1st you have to spend money on your facilities (check). Hire a proven winning staff, then recruits will come and then UT will right the ship. Dooley is never going to work in this era of Football and everyone knows it but I don't see any Top talent coaches lining up for UT at the moment cause everyone expects a National title in less than 3 years. If you want to be the best you gotta hire the best. AD M. Hamilton ran off Fulmer and alienated all past coaches and players. Made a ballsy hire in lame kitten that back fired. UT got stingy and decided to stop the bleeding rather than write a check for quality staff. Well, that has not paid dividens nor will it. If we have 2 more seasons of this coaching staff we are going continue to maintain mediocrity or worse decline. If we aren't part of the conversation for producing top rated athletes and NFL draft picks this program will continue to suffer losses. Dooley blames his athletes and that is just not ever a good sign of a leader, period. The teacher has to bear the burden if his team is not prepared to succeed. Bad coaching is not overcomable no matter the level of athlete. Spend the money, get a proven winning staff, coach up the players (who aren't terrible as the record reflects) and right the ship. Ask your self why hasn't UT landed a quality coach? Because our previous AD was in way over his head. Current AD Hart, if he is smart, will drop some coin next season. Just a few realistic suggestions would be Jim Tressle, Bobby Petrino, Paul Johnson, Troy Calhoun then maybe:
Dabo Sweeney
Mark Dantonio
Charlie Strong

Would take a chance on any of these before hiring Dooley: Kevin Steel, David Cutcliffe, Randy Sanders, John Chavous or Randy Shannon.

I agree. I've always felt it was going to take 4 - 5 years to clean up a very bad situation. I lived thru the Bill Battle / Johnny Majors rebuild. This is happening quicker that Majors rebuild. We just gotta be patient and let Dooley do his thing.

:good!:

Point of reference.... At this point in his TN tenure John Majors was 13-15&1 . Just a fact.

Dooley is the man for this job! People need to realize this! Our fans do not realize he is still rebuilding. This season should be a bowl winning one with 8+ wins. Next year will be the make or break year. This man is laying the foundation for our trail back to the national spotlight. Our fanbase is just way too impatient, and quite ignorant for the most part to realize that.

I thought that was the rallying cry of this year? And have you seen next year's schedule?

I would have no problem rallying behind a coach who had at any point, proven he was a winner. Those claimin it's just a matter of time before Dooley has us back in the SEC title hunt have nothing at all to go on except hopes and dreams. Those who feel we are better off looking for a new coach have alot to base that on. The term NegaVol seems a bit odd when the ones calling people NegaVol are content with fighting Vandy for next to last in the east.

I'm with Dooley. If anything, he has led my Vol program with pride and respectability. We might not have the championships or wins yet, but at least we do possess one hell of a VFL program that prepares these young men for life. To me, that's one of the main reasons I've sided with Dooley.

Now, about coaching......

I believe that CDD spoke at the SEC Media days and said "for the first time we have depth on both sides of the ball", and " you wont have Tennessee to kick around anymore." So now were back to we don't have any players?

yea he did say that. But his followers act like that never happened.Dooley says depth wasnt a problem but his followers say it is.Now either Dooley lied or his peeps are just throwing sh%t against the wall and hope it sticks.
