Dooley (easily) Deserves One More Year

Yes, Kentucky is really a Buz saw. More like a jig saw with a bent blade. How could any one who watched that game still defend Dooley is a mystery
ohh we have idiots on here that think are youth and recruiting will fix everything! (do they know that other teams have youth and recruit? )

Probably right.

Dooley is just an arrogant punk, much like our previous one year coach. At least Kiffen shouldered the blame for poor performance. Dooley thinks he's beyond criticism.

I'm as disappointed as the next Vol fan in Coach Dooley, but that's BS.

Yep I think thats what is going to happen.
What concerns me is, UT has a very talented QB.
The kind of QB who can win when he's healthy despite a less then stellar game plan. Dooley could win 7 or 8 games next season on the strength of Bray's arm. Then UT is stuck with another mediocre coach for a couple of more seasons.

I understand your concern. 6-6 or less its obvious he needs to go. 7-5 and more competitive in the games you lose its not a slam dunk. 8-4 your stuck with with him for a few more seasons. I'm questioning his ability to lead and win. That was a gutless performance yesterday that I unfortunately went to the game and paid all the money for tickets, parking and gas. The thing is I had a bad feeling in my stomach that we would find a way to lose and the streak would end this season. This was the game he couldn't afford to lose and he did.

CDD does not deserve another year. he has in no way earned another year.

however, all things considered, it is probably best for the program to keep him one more year -- while hopefully mining for an improvement and planning on shulagizing him at the end of the 2012 season.

I said at the beginning of the season that fans would forgive Dooley almost anything-- even another 6-6 season, as long as he didn't lose to UK and break the streak. And that was before we knew how bad UK was. Add in the fact that they beat us with a two-star RB posing as QB-- who outplayed Tyler Bray-- and few coaches could survive the fallout. Eight quality wins next year might buy Dooley another year to add stability and financial strength to the program, but he won't be the beloved figure his father was at UGA. Fans won't forget and they won't forgive. He will end up a bitter footnote here and a lower-tier coach elsewhere.

Agreed, Dooley has done nothing to deserve another year, but he'll get another year because of the situation we're in at this point. In my opinion Dooley didn't deserve the job to began with.

I watched the DD show, and it didn't seem like that at all to me.

I understand we had a killer schedule and we wouldn't win most of those games. the problem is we weren't even close to being competitive in any of them. The only reason the Florida loss didn't look as bad was because they completely let off the gas in the 4th qrt, as did Bama, LSU, Georgia, and SC. Arkansas didn't and we got throttled and thats what all those other teams would have done, if they wouldn't have felt sorry for us.
So getting a few people back next year isn't gonna help us at all, and certainly not as much as the Dool-aid drinkers are saying it will.
Also his recruiting classes have rnked high, yes, but I'm starting to think Dooley has a knack for finding all the highly rated players that will FLOP. Its either that or he clearly has no idea how to coach a player UP, infact it looks the other way, that he's coaching them DOWN. Im also not impressed with many of the kids he's offered. Sure the past couple of years we just needed bodies to fill the roster. But now we have the players, so we should be going for talent. This isn't the WAC, filling the roster with goody two-shoe 3-4*s isn't get us anywhere when were playing teams that have 4-5*s oozing out their ears. This is Tennessee, we shouldn't be thrilled with a coach because he got us 1-2 top players every couple of years, we should be pulling in 4-5 top players every single year. heck you look at the nations top players this year and were not mentioned by any of them which is pathetic since we should be at least a consideration since we can offer them immediate playing time, top notch training facilities, and national coverage almost every week.
Dooley is building a team that could win the WAC, not a team that will compete in the SEC. Send him packing and let him run sme other program into the ground, cause I'm tired of watching him make my team get progressively worse. Were already the worst in the SEC East, giving him 1 more year will only make us worse than Ole Miss and officially make us the worst team in the entire SEC. See how far back being the worst team in the league sets us back compared to firing him and getting a coach that could build some hype around our program.

Does the name Phillip Fulmer ring a bell?

He won 10 his first full year, 8 his second, and 11 in his third. Dooley wins 6 his first year and 5 in his second, watch out, here comes 7 wins in his third! Id rather regress from 10 to 8 than hang on a limb from making a bowl every year.

The funny thing is that if he turns this program around, everyone will be the exact opposite of how they feel now. All the haters will jump back on the bandwagon and follow CDD again. Reading these posts the past few days has really shown the true color of the fan base and it makes y'all no better than the administration that has the "what have you done for me lately attitude" So F'N what, we had a bad season? Is TN football gone forever? No. College football is cyclical and everyone should know that.

Look at LSU, they were non-existent till Saban rolled around. We were untouchable through the 90s and early 00s. It makes me sick how no one has any support for players or coaches around here. If Saban were to come here and have the same results, people would forget what he has done in the past and crucify him. Sad to be a Vol right now with all the ignorance and stupidity on this site.

VFL right here both in good and bad times.

If you can't see there is some promising young players coming up under his leadership, you just don't understand football. It takes more than two years to clean up the mess he stepped into. I will give him one more year to split conference w's and l's and win all of the non conference games, I think that is fair.

At least he beat Vandy.

Win all non conference games? Good chance that goes out the window in the very first game.

I believe if CDD had as much talent as a coach as he has personal integrity this thread wouldn't be here.... but it is. I've watched and listen to his interviews and heard him say that he is only playing the cards he's been dealt (You have to admit it was a SH1&%Y hand). HEY COACH...... YOUR DEAL!!!

i disagree. i you can't see that he can't coach, then you don't understand football. we are the worst coached team in the sec that is the real problem.

I don't give a **** if he wins 3 national titles in a row - he will never get my support again.

The day he is fired is the day I breathe a sigh of relief.
