I want to see a NASTY D . I want teams to say that was WAR hope we don't have to Play them again . I want to see body's laying on the field as we walk off

+1

The bend but don't break defense is getting kind of old. Playing to not get beat deep on 3rd and 6 and having the DBs play 10 yards off the WR is hard to watch. Watching our Dline get stoned all game long sucks. Maybe in 2012 we can see some fight in this team.

I bet 85% of all coaches in America could land a similar class that Dooley has put together when each athlete is offered a free education, books, housing, food, free addidas gear and a promise to play in front of 100,000 SEC fans. Oh, and you will be able to work out in our new 100 million dollar weight room and have access to the top facilities in the country.
Seriously, why should I pat Dooley on the back for doing his job when thats why he's paid 2 million dollars a year. He makes more in 1 week than I do all year so landing the 25th best class is dynamite to you people???

Aw, Tony, can't you just chill?

Please stop blaming the NCAA violations for recruiting please. USCe, Miami, Ohio St., and USC all had the NCAA up there butts and pulled off great classes. This class isnt great it fills needs though. Im not to sure if it aswers dept issues yet. But big up to CDD good job we got a 5 star.

The uk game was the perfect storm. Get over it. UK has played UT damn tight the past couple of seasons, pushed us to overtime in 2009. These "young" kids were plum wore out from playing the most brutal schedule in the country. If Coach Dooley did anything wrong, it was not pulling Bray in the second half. Other than that, our underclassman were playing a team of upperclassman on their turf.

You can never justify losing to Kentucky. I actually like Coach Dooley and am 100% on board but that loss is one you accept as a total failure and move on without trying to rationalize it. Very similar to the '96 Memphis loss in that it should absolutely never happen.

.
In Nick Saban's 4th year at Michigan St., the Spartans lost to Colorado St. at home to open the season and to a Minnesota team they had beaten 17 straight times (sound familiar?) finishing the season at 6-6 with no bowl. Had his team not won at tOSU late in the season that year, he would have likely been fired. After his 4th year there, his record was barely above .500 against much easier competition. Had Michigan St. not shown patience, a HOF coach may have never been born, or at best his rise would have been delayed significantly.

In no way am I comparing Dooley to Saban, just merely pointing out that when rebuilding a program from scratch, it takes time and patience and there will be setbacks along the way.

I'm happy with the recruiting class, all things considered. He's coaching the team at the school I love and does so with class, so he gets my support unequivocally. No excuses now. He obviously needs wins this year and I hope and believe that he'll get there. The past is in the rear-view. I'm excited for the future.
No man dont do that please also point out that in his first 5 yrs he had no loosing records. Dooley had 4 loosing seasons in his first 5.

thats where you wait and see my brotha..you cant praise or bash dooley yet. i will say this year will be huge for him..no doubt about it.

but he has brought in some quality football players

If the run game had not taken a gigantic step backwards, a lot more people would have faith in the staff.

2 things, Tennessee should expect more from its coach than Michigan State and the Ohio State team he beat was the #1 team in the country.

Dooley deserves credit, but it ain't like he parted the Red Sea.

A&M had a better class with bigger issues.
Ohio St had a better class with their program in serious trouble.
Florida has similar issues as TN, unproven HC, staff turnover, but had a way better class.

What do all three of those schools states have in common?

I would never consider trading CP. He makes our 11 personnel unreal.

Here's a great article about 11 personnel and how often the best teams in the NFL use it. : NFL.com news: NFL.com news: In terms of predicting success, 11 seems to be magic number

Here's a quote from this 2010 article:

"The Colts used 11 personnel well over 500 times last season, the Vikings over 350 times, and the Packers, Patriots, Cowboys, Saints and Bengals were all in the 200-plus range. Six of those teams won their respective division and the Packers were a close second."

This is actually a good read. Makes you more optimistic with this class and gives some insight to what the coaches may be trying to accomplish.

we had very little DL talent and that has been addressed... that was what was needed more than anything... our CB's on an island shouldn't have to cover for a full five seconds in the fourth quarter now

Considering we lost 6 coaches, had the NCAA on our buts, Had a horriable season, Coach Dooley deserves alot of credit for keeping most of this class together. If we don't lose Santos & Peters we would all be praising him. Considering all the negative things that happened over the past year I think he deserves some credit. We still had a very good class of recruit's. jmo

i disagree, he hired the coaches that left and the play on the field eventhough not entirely on him, his coaching hasn't helped anything. dooley has helped us into the hole we are in.

We may not have to top ten rankings like some would like but this class addresses a lot of needs. We needed DT's very badly. We got 2 very solid players in obrien and mccullers. We needed another wr that could come in and make an impact. If hunter or rogers goes down we still have 2 solid play makers. We have more options in the return game, young was a spark last year but now we can rotate guys in and keep him fresh and keep him from getting dinged up or if injured our return game won't be shut down. Maybe most importantly we picked up some good DB's that can come in and make an impact. I see mcneil and bonner getting playing time early and maybe even started towards the back end of the season. The best thing about this class is it makes us a more complete team. Im very excited for this team

And Santos was not the coaches fault. The wrong school came calling; that's all it was.

This was going way down long before Dooley came along. Between the steady decline of CPF's last few teams and the other guy's one team I refuse to mention, he is just trying to right the ship. If he keeps bringing in strong recruiting classes, we'll get back.

He has to get better on the X's and O's side, and I'll be the first to admit that. But, we were spiraling downward before he got here.

My expectations are to challenge for the East and be competitive in every game in Dooley's 3rd year in the toughest conference in the country. Michigan St. was satisfied with .500 in year 4 in a less competitive conference. Happy? Blind assumptions are awesome.

Pretty sure I indicated the tOSU win on the road likely saved his job, right?

This class is in no way average :ermm:

8th in the SEC on 247, 8th on ESPN, 6th on Rivals (probably 7th after that last guy signs with GA), 10th on Scout. The scout ranking is a bit ridiculous.

It's the very definition of average by SEC standards. And that's the world we're in, not the ACC or Big East.

Dooley did OK under the circumstances (circumstances which were much of his own making). And the class doesn't appear to have a lot of questionable types that'll be gone in a year or two. But the volume of good players we got? So did many other SEC schools, and the top tier programs got way more.

Just OK? I'm not going to sit here and fluff the results CDD has gotten us, because they past two seasons have been average at best. However, recruiting out of a state like TN where the in-state class was garbage, I think you are under-cutting his achievement. We had a losing season and made six coaching changes. We still ended up with a boarderline top 15 class. Scout is completely irrelevant because their rankings are a joke.

You have a point with the "volume of good players," but we addressed needs in this class very well, DT/NT, WR, and DB.

We should be ecstatic, Dooley and Co. just signed 21 VFLs. Other schools may have signed higher rated classes, but not all of them are there for the school. Most are there for themselves. A little selfish if ya ask me. I'll take 21 VFLs over any other class in the nation.

Whose fault was the losing season? Whose fault were all of the lateral coaching changes? We did not address the need for LBs. The whole TN doesn't have in-state talent is addressed by the huge money we spend on recruiting:
UT's recruiting budget tops SEC by healthy margin | The Tennessean | tennessean.com. He has the tools to succeed and all he has shown is that he is an average recruiter in this conference. Therefore, no I do not agree with the premise that "Dooley deserves a lot of credit."
