Dooley said he still doesn't see championship-like attitude and performance from his players yet

not really surprised at the comment, but just wanted to point out that CDD isnt shy about hammering the players publicly. Personally I like it.

I think he needs to correct his time management skills before he criticizes his players publicly, you know, the guys who go out there and bust their butts for him.

Ha.

I think people are way too sensitive.

If the players quit on him ala 2005 then we have a problem.

Until then, he can hammer away. If they want the coach to quit criticizing, they better get their heads out of their asses.

I think he is just over-exaggerating with this self depreciation stuff so people will be surprised in the fall when we perform better.

Players need some swag. We can hire Cam Newton as the swag coach. He'll need to do something during the lockout.

I believe this is what Kiffin did, not saying it is wrong, but it was rather annoying.

I think Dooley just calls it how he sees it. He may be a little pessimistic, but I look at him as more of a realist.

He criticizes himself, he criticizes the players. There's no problem here unless he's blaming everything on them.

Somebody tell me why our players should have a championship like attitude when we haven't beaten anybody yet and are still early in the rebuilding process. If he says they do, he gets lambasted for an overconfident team with few accomplishments. If he says they don't, he is "throwing them under the bus" in the eyes of some. A sophomore based team has a ton of work to do, mentally and physically. Many people are just too mentally weak and thinskinned. I'd rather have DD say what he says all day, rather than another coach who blows smoke up fans butts by convincing the fans and media that the team is better than they are.

Lets be clear, no one on that field works harder than the HC. period.

I like the way Dooley just says it like it is

Exactly, I prefer a straight shooter over a sunshine blower anyday.

Dooley is relentless and driven, I don't think he cares for halfassed effort or dead weight.

Just keep kicking them in the rear and we will get back to where we are suppose to be.

One thing I've noticed several times in the past. If he says something to the media in public, he's already said it to the player involved.

IIRC he called out Jackson last year in a Press Conference, and when our Knoxville media went running right to him to stir up some controversy, he told them - "Yeah, he already told me."

I like that.

Football at any level you got to have your head right, and in the SEC if you dont have a champs attitude you will be steam-rolled!

So what you are saying is a coach should not challenge his players' general attitude until he eliminates all personal error?

FTR, which time mgt skills are you referring to?

Attitude is the first thing that has to change. It is more important than schemes or physical ability. Thoughts determine attitudes. Attitudes determine actions.

I don't.

I really truly believe that CDD just says it the way it is. Or the way he believes it is.

You get so little "Coach Speak" with Dooley. The honesty is refreshing.

IMO this is just his way of motivating the team.

Just dont see him trying to beat down fan expectations.
