UT spent over $177K on 17 different scouting services last year.

An analysis of the recruiting services UT has hired since 2008...shows that Dooley and his staff are enjoying the perks that a program with deeper pockets provides, but they are also closely monitoring where that money is going, and how much is being devoted to certain providers.

In 2008, Phillip Fulmer’s last season with the Vols, the football program spent $47,497 on 12 recruiting services. In 2010, Dooley’s first season, UT devoted $55,000 alone to XOS Digital, which provides the Vols with a deep library of Web-enabled videos of high school prospects from around the country.

I guess that helps explain why it takes us so long to evaluate and offer players. Dooley doing due dilligence.

I remember reading an interview with Orgeron where he said UT didn't have the recruiting infrastructure that he expected when he got there. He specifically mentioned the recruiting video which I assume was provided by these types of services. Seems to sync with the article saying UT has greatly increased their spending on this sort of thing.

Just like any sport you have to spend money to get results.

I love how open Dooley is about needing to go out of state to get the players he needs to compete. Thanks OP for linking the great read!

Just continues to show we have the right man in charge here. Not many smarter coach's out there. Hamilton will would come out smelling like rose if he was able to keep his job. I admit i wasnt excited or even knew much about him but he won me over with his presser and continues to impress. Just a matter of time before we start competing and winning. Martin kind of reminds me of the Dooley hire. He seems very intelligent and well spoken. Hopefully we have the 2 guys in place to lead us forward.
