You are a reasonable poster here. Can you give us a quote from Dooley to compare where he called a specific player out and blamed him without taking part or all of the blame for not having the guy coached well?
I am really sick of this "Dooley calls out his players" nonsense! Some people on here and in the media act like he berates them every time he is in front of a mic. That's just not the case at all. Quit being crybaby nancy boys and grow a pair!
Look, I drink the Doolaide, but I still maintain that at some point the coach has to show the players he has their back and take some of the blame even if it is not deserved. Dooley has YET to take any blame and has done nothing but throw everyone and everything under the bus except his coaching or lack of. Last piece of the puzzle.... A lot of these guys are going to be juniors and are getting tired of being called out every game. Show me another successful coach in the SEC that calls out specific players as much as Dooley??
If someone can actually give an example of Dooley "throwing a player under the bus" then I will join those who say he should not do it.
The Juror is still out on your boy Dooley.Dooley has already stated to the media that there are no more excuses, like youth, depth and so on. Also stated he needs to step up and be a better coach. So I think you will hear Dooley taking responsibility for mistakes that are made on the field. As bad as the Kentucky loss was, I think it was an eye opener for CDD and will make him a better coach and leader. That one will be eating at him for a long long time!
Of course "ITS CALLED WINNING"! YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!If the coach is to blame, admit it. If the player is to blame, call him out!! If it's a combination of both, say so. This is NOT peewee football. It's BIGBOY football. Smack their helmet. Grab their jersey. Shake 'em up. Tell the press and fans "he don't listen", "he won't practice hard", "he doesn't execute". SEC baby!
I bet if we were 11-1 last year and DD was calling out lazy players, the fans would be PRAISING him. js
False. I'll post a link in a sec.
Here ya go:
Coaching better at top of Dooley's agenda - SEC Blog - ESPN - titled coincidentally enough "Coaching better at top of Dooley's agenda"...
Pat summitt can call players out bc she is a proven winner. When dooley does it, there is a perception that he is shifting blame.. Once he proves he is a winner, then he can call players out without any blame or controversy. Just the way it is.
Somewhere between the two lies a happy medium.
Thank goodness Dooley calls out his players and throws them under the bus because he expects the BEST out of them on and off the field!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank goodness that Pat Summitt and Bob Knight aren't or weren't as passive as you want Dooley to be. OP is troll
Thread title made it pretty clear what this post was about. There are plenty of other ones to read and discuss. Or you could start one yourself if you have something you'd like to discuss.
Comparing coaching philosophies makes sense to me. Especially during the off season.
