I think under the other coach Stephens was going to win the starting job for next year. Now that Dooley is in all QBs are all on equal footing in my mind. Do you think we'll see Stephens winning the job or could Matt Simms or even Lamaison steal the job away? Would Dooley even consider a true freshman in Bray? Finally do ya'll still agree Bray will be redshirted this year?

Those are good questions. First I think it will be whoever catches on to his offense the quickest. Stevens has more experience. Bray needs to eat some country cookin and add some weight but he has tremendous upside and will be one of my favorites. Like many others I wonder why we offered Simms in the first place unless Liamson was a disapointment . JMO

IMO Stephens or Simms will get the nod. But there is a reason that they have the competition and just dont name the starter right away. I wouldn't count out anybody at this point, not even Tyler Bray. He is impressive, very impressive and he has 8 months to bulk up that linky frame. But... I agree that he should be redshirted. School that boy up CDD!!!

It will be a similar offense that Kiffin said Stephens was starting to shine in during practice. Probably Stephens. Plus, he appears to be a great leader.

it should be a good battle for the QB position this year that should help all of them 6 foot 6 is able to see the field really well though

With our line, pencil-thin Bray shouldn't step foot under center. I think he'll be a heck of a QB for us, but we are just asking for an injury if we stick him back there next year.

Don't count out Bray so fast.I would bet he already has a play book. It's like who ever catches on and can pick up all the little nuances of the offense.

Stephens is from my old hometown of Flower Mound, TX where football is viscous. I left the area when I was in 7th grade and he was in like 3rd or 4th. Flower Mound High School was 2 or 3 years old when he was a freshman but was already becoming known as a football powerhouse in North Texas. Flower Mound is very wealthy community and parents in that area spared no expense when it came to their child and athletics.

As a side note: I saw a LA Tech presser on YouTube where Dooley was talking about if one QB doesn't get it together or isn't playing well in a game, he wouldn't hesitate to bench him and give the other QB a shot.

Very different than Queefin.

In all due fairness, I think LK was ultimately correct on the QB situation last year...

OK...is football "viscous" or "vicious" in Flower Mound, TX? Quite a difference in those adjectives. I'm confident CDD will choose the best QB. Bray really does need more weight training on that long, lean frame, but I'm excited about his future in Orange.

I think it will be between Simms and Stephens, and whoever plays best in the fall will be the starter.

stephens and simms will compete for the job... im interested in seeing what simms can do because if we end up running a ball control offense similar to bama i believe matt might have the qualities more suited to that. stephens can be more apt to trust his arm in certain situations that may get him in trouble.... dooley will make the right choice between the two since he isnt biased between either.... tyler is a project. redshirt him and coach him up be patient and the kid could be good someday but we cant rush him. hes not built to be an immediate impact guy.

what concerns me is from what I've seen of CDD's offense at La Tech and Chaney's at Purdue the QB was used in ways to where he needs to be semi-quick/fast. Both offenses used the QB in ways such as roll outs and sneaks. I truly believed Bray would've shined in Coach X's offense b/c they don't use the QB's mobility too often except on PA, however, I just don't know if Bray is going to fit into this offense now and that sucks! I was so pumped about this kid! I really hope I'm wrong tho.

I'm guessin' that you didn't read the part about Bray being a stud basketball player too. Granted that doesn't make you fast but it probably makes you fast enough for a roll-out.
