I know DD makes the big bucks but he sacked up and fired one of his best friends for the betterment of the program.I like him more and more everyday:salute:
The argument was about how Smith was pissed off Dooley didn't stick up for him and allow CCS to keep his job. He was especially pissed that he felt "run-out" by Wilcox and Thompson, so he voiced his opinion on that as well. Dooley and Smith are long time friends, it won't have any effect on their long term relationship, the guy's just pissed he was forced out of where he wanted to be and a school he cares alot about. Fell bad for him, but as earlier mentioned you gotta give it to Dooley for havin the stones to fire a longtime friend for the betterment of the team.

And he did it to not only someone who was a "friend", but also supposedly a "VFL" and as homesweet pointed out above, a fan favorite on this board, at least until he had his press conference. There are points in a persons life as we all know that make huge differences in how people view them and how everything turns out afterwards. With CCS unfortunately it was that 30 minutes beside the Neyland statue that may forever overshadow the great things he had accomplished at the University of Tennessee. We can only hope he calms down, reflects on the situation, and truly goes back to being a true VFL. CDD has once again proven the betterment of the program is first and foremost in his mind.

The only thing that could have made CCS look worse would have been to bring Benedict Gerald Jones to the press conference.
