"You can't base progress on results, you base it on the process. I will be very dissapointed if I'm judged based on the results with all the variables that go into a season of football."

We sittin' here in year three and you talkin' about...process, man! Process. Not the games. Not the games. Not whether we win or lose in the actual game. You talking about process, man. I mean we talkin' bout process!

"We are a ways away from being where we need to be as a program. There are a lot of variables that go into it, and we're not where we need to be at this point."

Good point. I think you need at least three more years. At least. That would totally be fair.

"It's absurd to call them (Patterson, Hunter, Rogers, Bray) first rounders right now. You need production and outside of Da'Rick, they have not produced. No way can you say they're first round picks. I'm not afraid of saying they have the potential, but right now they all need development and maturity. I don't read those things. and for their sake, I hope they don't either."

Justin Hunter isn't a first round pick? Riiiight.

"You could say we have a chance to compete for the SEC East, but I'll tell you there's just as good a chance that we'll duplicate what we did last year, that's how it is in this league."

Way to sell those season tickets, buddy. A fearless leader, you are indeed.

If he said the team will win every game and all the players are first rounders you would still whine. Get over it

Yeah I was shocked he didn't predict an undefeated season...Set the bar high, right??

BTW I'm curious as to how you know CDD is lowering expectations..Or for that matter, exactly which of your "quotes" did he express that in any way?? It is what it is for now and the season will decide which way the "expectations" actually went

I'm certainly no sunshine pumper, but this is a terrible thread. Did you even hear the interview?

What coach in America doesn't use coach speak in MAY? Give me a break. Thread isn't even intelligible.

This right here is what you call whistling past the graveyard. It's put up or shut up time and he knows it. He lost Year 4 by losing to Kentucky.

Dooley isn't stupid. He knows that talent and depth can't be used as an excuse this year. he had assembled a fine Coaching Staff. He has recruited and trained a group of kids that has the ability talent wise to go toe to toe with every team we play this year.

I honestly believe this years squad has the potential to compete for a Championship. I will not be shocked if we make it to and leave Atlanta with a SEC Crown. I also won't be shocked if we go 5-7 again. I honestly don't know what to expect this season. On paper this team looks like a contender. Our Defense looks sound and our Offense looks Elite. Looks can be deceiving however. The Talent and Depth are there. I hope the Hunger is too.

2012 is the year Dooley will show his worth.

I listened to the interview and I didn't get this vibe from him.

He said several positive things in the interview that counter what was qouted in the OP.

Two options:
(1) you don't know what "intelligible" means; or
(2) you have a great deal of difficulty with the written word.

Intelligible: able to be understood, clear, lucid.

You've demonstrated a lack of understanding of context and situational appropriateness, and this has caused you to construct a thread that is barely intelligible. Let me know if I can explain the concept in further detail.

I and no one else hear has a clue of Dooley can coach and will get the job done here.

But he is looking more and more like our zook.

whoever the coach is in 2013 is going to have a team that is field ready.

I think that if he had won the UK game and played in a bowl game, he'd have had the benefit of the doubt in 2012. He would have at least had the opportunity to see how the whole season played out. Seven, eight wins would probably have been enough to keep the job for 2013, regardless of where they came from.

Losing to Kentucky puts him in a position where he could be a dead man walking by mid-October. Lose to NC State, Florida, and the leghumpers, and suddenly he's in a position where he's got to beat the other leghumpers and Alabama to have a prayer of keeping his job. I think we'll know by Halloween whether he's coming back or not.
