Had to be said. I am so sick of reading articles like the new one on Govols.com where morons pile on Stallworth.
If you knew the whole story maybe you would feel differently or maybe you are a complete jerk and nothing else matters to you except that Donte was "legally intoxicated."
Donte was slightly speeding (going less than 50) when Mr. Reyes saw a Bentley and decided to jump in front of it after it flashed it's lights at him.
Donte tried to slow but the reason he was given such a light sentence is because it was clear to ANYONE who watched the video including the whole jury that if they had been behind the wheel their car would have hit Reyes also.
He was not "running to catch a bus so he could go to work" he was running across a highway in front of a Bentley far away from any place to legally cross.
If you have ever been angry at a complete moron jaywalking in the middle of a busy street and almost causing you to have an accident, imagine how much worse it would be if someone saw your wealth and targeted you for a lawsuit and accidentally killed themselves. Should Donte have been driving while legally intoxicated? No. If he was sober he would have been charged with nothing at all and Reyes family would have to cry about the misfortune of the Grand Theft Auto style maneuver not working out so well in real life.
