Don't expect a homerun hire now...

Our fan based destroyed that dream. Who would want to take the job knowing that if you weren't the first hire, they aren't going to care at all. That you landed the job knowing that it wasn't based off your football IQ or record. It was based off the fact you weren't part of a sexual scandal.
Not saying Schiano should've been hired, I'm only expressing that the way we acted was way over the top

FYI - Schiano wasn't a homerun.

There wasn't going to be a homerun. Schiano was their guy.. With thinking like that it can't be fixed until you clean out the AD and get rid of a certain meddlesome booster. They're what's wrong with UT not the fans..

Listening to Griffith last night, the stat that was most damning was how little our school spends on football. Some writer out of lsu ran the numbers and - I'm rounding here - Alabama spends around $51M, auburn $42M, Georgia $38M and we are around $29M, middle of the pack and behind ole miss! Griffith went on to say that butch asked for another staff member, I think a quality control guy, and was denied. Hindsight helps of course, but it seems pretty obvious that the guy needed help and the ad, or school, was too cheap to even afford him some low-level, glorified secretary?
Maybe this is all common knowledge and I've been blind, but it feels like fan expectations are disproportionate to the school's dedication.
If we're not already there, we are painfully close to becoming the braves of college football. One good run to cling to, but we can't spend with the big boys, so consistently underwhelm, throw a lot of money at a stadium, and....nobody cares. We're one ridiculous cheating scandal away.

Fan base overreated big time..Ohio State obviously did an investigation on schiano..This program just let a good coach get away..People acting like Schiano was Currie 1st choice..Currie offered Gruden, Kelly, and Mullen and they turned it down..Now who u going to bring in?

Anyone other than Schiano

I have a hard time believing that. We have spent so much money on facilities, stadium improvements, contracts with NIKE etc. It doesn't really match up with Tennessee not spending on their program.

I think fans might need to review what would be considered a home run at this point. Norvell would be a home run at this point I think.

Look at it from a coaches perspective. Currie is the AD and is hated now. Would a coach want to take the job under a hated AD that may be on the outs with the university? I don't think a coach would want the job if the AD hiring them isn't on strong footing.

You can't not hire Schiano based on an allegation that he knew about Jerry Sandusky, and then hire Jim Bob Cooter, who actually has a criminal record.

Fulmer's not coming back and Cut's not leaving Duke. Tee is a possibility, if you think he can handle the SEC.

Lions offensive coach Cooter's Tennessee arrest records vanish

..."The Knox County Sheriff's Office still had the booking photo, but that was all.
"I'm actually not showing a criminal history on him. My guess is that it's been expunged," sheriff's office spokeswoman Hillary Martin wrote in an e-mail to the Free Press.

So stopping a non-home run hire from happening will prevent us from making a home run hire?

Also, as long as Currie is hiring, we won't even get close to a home run.
