I have long felt that the NCAA tourney committee has their top seeds determined before conference tourneys. I think it's done that way out of convenience more than anything else.

With that said if we end this week with both Tenn and Kentucky winning both games I think the lazy thing for the committee to do is to go into the conference tourney weekend with both of us penciled in as the 1/2 seeds in Louisville.

They will simply wait to plug in who gets the one until after the 3rd time we play each other.

Imo it would be a travesty to have to play Kentucky a 4th time in Louisville to make it to the Final 4.

Hopefully the NCAA committee won't do this but it seems likely to me .

Now the question becomes...would you rather be a 1 seed and in the Midwest regional (Kansas City) or be a 2 seed and in the East or South Regional (DC or Louisville)?

Okay, opening weekend. Happy?

BTW, the First Four includes higher seeded major conference invitees. Like 11s.

I said a month ago I am good wth the 2 in Louisville but not with Kentucky there as well

I highly doubt they would put Tennessee and Kentucky in the same region. They try not to put same conference teams in the same region

Some years they have to put 2 teams from the same conference in the same region. Their only criteria for that is they can't have two teams from the same conference meet any sooner than the Regional championship game unless that has changed in the last couple of years.

They even have had to break that rule a few times with the ACC getting more than 8 teams in the tourney

Doesn't the committee prefer to match the
4 and 5 overall seeds together?

If so my OP seems even more likely since it's also a geographical fit

but not 1 vs 2! That's pretty easy to avoid

maybe 3 and 7 seeds

I don't think they'd put Tennessee and Kentucky in the same region seeded 1&2. If SEC gets 8 teams, each region will have two SEC teams most likely but Tenn and Ky won't be together.

If there isn't a rule against it there should be

Hopefully there is one I just don't know about it
