Heard this segment on ESPN radio and thought it would be interesting to hear your top 5 for the Vols and a top 5 for around college football.

Dont be surprised if;

1) Tennessee wins 9 games
2) Eric Berry is the #1 pick in next year's NFL draft
3) Greg King is starting by the Ohio game
4) Crompton ends up 3rd team all SEC
5) Lincoln is first team all american

College Football

1) Ole Miss loses 5 games
2) LSU wins the SEC West
3) Sam Bradford wins another Heisman
4) Randy Shannon is fired by the Clemson game
5) Arkansas ends the year ranked in the top 10

Of the Tennessee ones, only #5 is a giant stretch. The others are certainly possible.

Of the national ones, I could see #2, 3 and 4, but not a big believer in #1 and believe #5 calls for a drug test. Not that Arky won't be improved, but that the West probably prohibits more than two top ten teams. OM and Bama are better bets to me than Arky.

None of those UT predictions will be true.

Ole Miss doesn't have the schedule to lose 5 games.

1) The WKU game is closer than the UCLA one...
2) Eric Berry leads the team in tackles, but has less than 5 INTs
3) Jon Crompton ends up with a better than 3/1 TD/INT ratio
4) Either Ohio or Memphis ends up scaring the crap out of us... neither UK nor Vandy come close
5) Montario Hardesty ends up getting drafted by the end of round 5 next year.

Nationally
1) In the West, only Alabama finishes with less than 3 losses.
2) Penn State gives the BCS a close scare by being ranked in the top 2 for a while
3) Oklahoma ends up winning their conference games by an average of 30+ points.
4) Baylor, Stanford, and Northwestern all have winning records.
5) North Carolina spends several weeks in the top ten.

1. Eric Berry throws two complete passes
2. Crompton blows an easy game but is hero in an 'unwinnable' one
3. Rod Wilks earns some respect at WR
4. Eric Berry breaks the interception yardage rec. in the first game
5. UT finishes in the top 20 AP

I think Berry being the number 1 pick or Greg King Starting are the most likely of the Vol picks, but I still would call them stretches...

Although if all of the Tennessee predictions come true, I would have to say it would be a pretty awesome job by our staff after year 1...heck if all we did is win 9 games that would be an awesome start, but don't see it happening this year

If Florida runs the table again, Tebow will win the Heisman hands down...Arkansas definitely won't be in the top 10, and I don't see Ole Miss losing 5 games, 3 is more realistic

NCAA

1. Texas makes it to the National Title game this year
2. LSU goes to a BCS bowl

I hope Shannon is not fired. If so, then Tubberville might end up in Miami and take Gran with him. Gran has been the best hire in my opinion.

i don't get the love affair with Arkansas. not the first person on message boards i've seen picking them.

i don't recall having heard anybody, with any kind of merit, picking them though.

Don't be surprised if...

Rex goes 0 for 5 on his UT predictions.

The Arky prediction is way out there. They'll be improved, and Mallett should emerge as a big-time college qb...but the schedule's brutal, and they're just not that good. I see 'em going 7-5.

I don't either. I think it has to do with Bobby Petrino and what he did at Louisville; It is as if his bizzaro time and piss poor people skills, with the Falcons never happened.

Cal upsetting USC, Tennessee finishing first in sacks, and 3 freshman making All America team were more wishful thinking than anything, but I don't think some of them are out of the realm of possibility...

UT

1) I think Tennessee wins 8 games tops.
2) Agree w/ Eric Berry.
3) Greg King? Sure.
4) Don't know about Crompton, but sure!
5) Don't see Lincoln performing that well at all.

College Football

1) I'll say Ole Miss loses 4.
2) LSU does win the West.
3) I'm going with Tebow or Jahvid Best.
4) Agree w/ Shannon firing.
5) I can see Arkansas top 25, but not top 10.
6) Mississippi State wins three games!
