Donnie Tyndall Support Thread

As I have said before, it's obvious Tyndall is a great coach.. The question remains can he recruit and we won't know that until the NCAA makes a decision on his future. Hopefully for him and our program, they slap him with a 3-4 game suspension and no show cause.

There's no question about it Donnie knows how to coach. But it takes time to implement a new system, especially in a league this tough.

But I like this group of Vols. They're a blue collar team, and they have tremendous mental toughness. Given that we've gone to a youth movement, they're a dark horse team that is showing flashes of brilliance.

It will be worth it when the team is finally starts hitting their stride, really starts to gel, because believe me this is a team that could make some noise. They could be a sleeper team when everybody gets on the same page, and we're starting to hear that the players are really buying in to CDT's system.

You can already see that they are doing the little things you need to do in order to win, and when the wins start coming this will be a team to be reckoned with.

Coach Tyndall and the team have been busting their butts all year to get better and they need our support. :hi:

May i ask who that is in your profile picture?

I love the new trademark name, "DONNIE FREAKING KNOXVILLE". Congratulations Dallas for coming up with this. However, I believe that he is just one of the best coaches we have ever had here at UT. I think his halftime speech in the 1st meeting of these 2, bled over to this game.

Now, we need to come out with the same enthusiasm against usce as we did tonight. If you recall, the last game against lsu followed the emotion draining win against vandee, and we came out flat. Our fans need to be rocking on Saturday from the time the team descends the steps until the final buzzer.

Anybody who thinks Tyndall should be fired for this season is an idiot. On the other hand anyone who thinks he has done a great job and he has proven beyond any doubt he can get it done are just as deluded.

I was about to give you a "like" until I read the last part of this comment. That portion made you sound like Debby Downer.

BTW, where are all the negavols tonight? They must have crawled back into the woodwork! LOL

LOL I'm prob the least Debby Downerish fan around....LSU is prob tied for 2nd most talented team in the SEC with Hogs...Tennessee would have to be lower tier in talent (don't mistake talent for effort as evidenced by tonight's game) I 'm definitely jn the CDT camp!!!!

Then anybody who wanted Pearl fired is the biggest f***ing idiot to grace this board.

We fired Pearl because he got in trouble with the NCAA. Rather than support him, we fired his ass. Even with all of his accolades of finishing in the Elite 8, getting us to #1 in the polls, beating multiple number 1 teams and going to multiple Sweet 16.

On the flipside...

Now we should support someone who is in trouble with the NCAA. Been here all of 1 season and with 1 game remaining, it could decide if we finish .500 or not.

So... you're an idiot if you don't support Tyndall for breaking rules even though he's accomplished nothing here but we already fired a coach for breaking the rules even though he's done more for this basketball program than anyone ever has.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I could care less if we keep Tyndall or if we don't. We already parted from one coach rather than bite the bullet and I liked that coach a lot more. Why should I care what happens to this coach? If he stays, I'll support him. If he's fired, he can take his NCAA troubles and his .500 record with. Wtf do I care? I had to let go of my attachment to Pearl. I don't really have an attachment to this guy. Then again, that's probably because I don't get excited by .500 records and potential postseason bans. To be fair, Cuonzo took us to the Sweet 16 and I wasn't really excited by that either. We lucked out by playing terrible teams to get there. It's not like we got there because the team was all that great.

Anyways, Pearl cultivated a culture of winning. As of right now, I see NCAA problems on our doorstep and a 15-14 record. I'm sure as hell not gonna fight to keep that as a fan after the school didn't fight to keep Pearl as a coach. But I'm also not gonna fight to push Tyndall out the door. Not like it matters what I, or 50,000 other fans want though. I'm just just not gonna care about the coaching hires. Firing Fulmer for Lane/Dooley, firing Pearl for Martin. Firing Del Monico for Raleigh. Hindsight is 20/20 and I'm just gonna blindly follow(they don't care what we want anyways) without giving much thought on whether we're making some really stupid decisions as far as the hiring and firing process goes. Butch appears to on the up swing(W/L column doesn't show it yet). Serrano was supposed to be on the upswing but so far I have yet to see improvement on the diamond. And Tyndall is too soon to tell but had we known about the NCAA, he wouldn't have been here to begin with along with his .500 season.

The powers that be should do whatever it takes to keep CDTas UT's basketball coach, no matter the results of the USM investigation. IMO. :eek:k:

Donnie's got them headed in the right direction, for sure. He's kinda brought everyone together after the Martin fiasco, the team is like a family.

They pride themselves on their defense, and they are better team than their record indicates. Don't listen to what the naysayers say, these guys are no pushovers.

They play with swagger, they are playing with a chip on their shoulders and they will make us proud. Everyone just needs to be patient.

I LOVE THIS POST! CAN YOU PUT THIS POST IN EVERY FORUM? TODAY?:good!:

Count me in. I expect some improvement next year but by year 3 we gonna be tough.

We have to recruit to be as good or better. Recruiting could not be as good because of the NCAA crap. If the NCAA issue is settled soon, recruiting should be greatly improved in 2016.

I should ignore this. But why oh why does Pearl get mentioned when talking about Tyndall? That was 4 years ago. Yes, the school could have done more with Pearl, but Pearl himself could have done more. He had lawyers. The difference is that he got a show cause and couldn't coach for 3 years. What did you expect the school to do?

Just because a new coach is lousy doesn't mean you should have kept the previous one. That's like saying you shouldn't have broken up with your first girlfriend because the second one didn't work out either. That's flawed logic. The bad decision was the new hire, not firing.

Quit living in the past. Tyndall is a good coach. People who live in the past or who don't understand basketball may not see it. Let's see if he can get through the NCAA issue and get some players. You can kindly go root for another team if you don't like it.

Well he certainly got this team motivated to give it all they had last night after I thought TN was done, gassed, out of it mentally, etc. So I give him credit for that. I also give him credit for the growing confidence of one Robert Hubbs III. If we can develop or land a post presence like Maymon for next year, with Moore presenting a severe mis match to any team which was on display last night, I think we will be right in the mix of the upper SEC teams next year behind KY.

Just like in football, there's always a few people who after a win can't wait to post "where are the negavols". Was here last night. Do you realize this board is about 90% negative in someway?
