Maybe, Kirkland will be content to remain at Tennessee for the rest of his college career. However, if he wants to play for a national title or in a major bowl game, he will need to transfer.

He can wait another year to make that decision.

Really John Adams? This comment is a low blow. You just had to sneak that in there didn’t you? 🧐 This dude needs to resign, because he is always bashing Tennessee somehow, with his cute comments. 🤬

Anyone who still reads Hack Adams trash or gives 2 sheets what he writes/thinks should have their head examined. He's been irrelevant for years.

Well do you expect Tennessee to play for a natty or major bowl game this year? Or even next?

The "will he won't he" aspect of this story reinforces posters' arguments that he isn't expected to be much of a factor for UT this year anyway. In the old days there was always one player who couldn't stay healthy. The current cycle seems to have five or so.

That really depends on how you define major bowl, doesn't it?

The New Years Six are definitely all major bowls: Rose, Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Peach, Fiesta.

Any others?

Some think we could do as well as 8-4 or 9-3 this season. I think that's optimistic, but not outside the realm of possibility. We can certainly do that well next year; schedule is favorable for a 9-3 run in 2019, if we're on the right track with this coaching staff.

Any bowl not one of the NY6 is achievable with 8-4 or 9-3. So if your definition is wider than those six bowls, we certainly could. Maybe even this year.

But if your definition is just the NY6 = major, then I'd agree this year is unlikely. Getting into the NY6 lately, 10 wins seems to be the price of admission; it's been done with 9, even 8 wins (Auburn, Sugar Bowl, year before last), but mostly 10+.

So not impossible this year. Just very unlikely.

Next year, though? Too early to even guess. We could.

And John Adams is an ass (and absolutely no Vols fan) for saying we can't.

My understanding is that you miss that window with the graduate transfer loophole and you miss out. He’ll be taking graduate courses so how does he argue that he needs a different program one year later?

I'm glad I didn't click the link. When I saw John Adams, I knew it was a waste of time. He hasn't been relevant in a long time if ever.
