Given recent events and the possible coaching dominoes about to cascade through the SEC because of CUM does anyone else think we have a great setup for 2012 to make the SECCG? Even our rivals not effected by coaching changes GA and SC presumably have negatives going into that season. SC will lose Garcia and GA will likely still have Richt. UT on the other hand will have a true Junior with 3 years of experience and a cast of star receivers with equal experience and a vastly improved line. We will have a coaching group in place long enough to have the new schemes fully installed and the players to fit the scheme to be in place. It also goes without mentioning that Auburn could/would/should be nuked by then as well by the NCAA.

2011 is going to be hard. South Carolina will still have Garcia, Alshon, and Lattimore. Sad to say, but South Carolina will again be a force in the East...

I think 2012 is likely, honestly... 2011 is just a hope. I think we will be improved as a whole next year though. Will win 8-9 games in my opinion.

I think we'll do well next year. I do agree with you though, 2012 is looking very bright.

My Dad and I had this conversation just a few days ago.

Me too but I'd say CUM leaving makes them even better.

You would have to assume that they will be better than this year. Maybe not much better next year but 2012 will be a better year for the gators. They have some legitimate issues down there with a lot of there players not having a team mentality. If the new coach comes in to clean house than next year maybe a sacrifice year. If they get someone that basically continues the current course, maybe keeps a few coaches or co-ordinators, they will be better next year and hitting full stride in 2012.

But what do I know anyways??? :)

I think the things that will determine the SEC championship worthiness of the Vols in the coming years are not those outside influences like other SEC coaching changes or other schools losing key players as much as the internal influences....stability of coaching positions...development, growth and depth of line positions and overall health of key players. The focus should be controlling those things you can and not worrying about those things you can't..it shouldn't matter who coaches at other SEC schools or what quarterback we will face...to earn the top spots...you just have to be ready to go out and play and defeat the best to be the best.

I already had a lot of confidence in 2012 before CUM left. By 2012 Bray will be a junior with 3 years of experience, and we'll have Hunter, Rogers, Milton, and Arnett at receiver. Plus, our offensive line will be very experienced by then ,and depth wont be as much of a problem. As for RB, I can't predict that as well ,but I'm sure there is a slight chance that Oku could still be here, and we'll have Neal, Williams, and Smith.

Overall, 2012 looks to be very bright for the offense. I don't feel like talking about the defense ,but our defensive line could be a very strong group, highlighted by Smith and Miller.

I am not buying the FL never misses a beat routine with the way the last year has gone down. New coach may be killer but I still say it takes them a couple of years to rebound after all of this.

To your point I believe we will be poised to be in control of our actions and destiny in 2012 while others may still be figuring things out.

way too many things can happen between now and 2012SECCG. changes can happen all over the league that might be positive or negative for Tennessee. Plus, many things can change at UT to impact 2012 yet.

What happens if NCAA brings football sanctions to us? Blows any other setup away.

Lot of unknowns for next two years to make any sort of prediction on 2012. JMO

I agree. The new coach, presumably a good one, will have to kick Azz and take names to get the players all going in the same direction. I think he may have to bring in hios own assistance coaches too. The Gators would not have been very good in 2009 without Tebow either; he saved them many times on 3rd or 4th and short. Hopefully, some of their freshmen will transfer as well (to us) or others. 2011 should be an 8 win season for us and 2012 awesome.:dance2:

Don't forget, until the dominoes start falling, we have no idea if any of them will knock some of ours over. If UF were to hire Peterson(doubtful), would he come after Wilcox? Will someone come after some of our other coaches?

Hopefully the last game in Tennessee Football history is in the SECCG in 2012. Since the world will end before the BCS National Title :)

Whoever is hired at UF, I strongly believe they will make a run at Lance Thompson and offer him a position as Recruiting Coordinator/Defensive Coordinator or DL coach.

I'd say Muschamp being chosen could be considered a positive move for us by many. No HC experience, defensive oriented and not that impressive defensively if you ask me.
