Dogs

Obviously it's better to have the chip than not, but it's not a guarantee anyway. Sounds like you have done all you can, just have to hope and wait.

Well, there was one spotting. Everybody within a mile knows about Lenny. What a great community. There are a few families out looking around on their own. I hate to get hopes up for them to be dashed, but I haven't seen any buzzards around yet and Lenny doesn't seem the type to roam for miles, but who knows. I hope he is just scared and laying low in the woods. Trying to read up on how dogs may think and since he isn't defending our home, I don't think he will bark and chase cars. He may get hit darting across of course.
I also read where they may not even come to the owners call or for food when they go into survival mode. About to walk the creek and hope he found it and is thirsty. Otherwise, maybe he will get so hungry and tired he will forget being scared and just finally walk up to somebody.
Still telling myself he is gone. Expect the worse. Hope for the best.

I will say that rolling out of the woods and walking the hood with a bell and a stuffed animal looks creepy and I've had to nicely answer questions. People have all been nice though andone guy whose house iI accidently rolled up on is going to put food out.

How long ago did somebody say they saw him?

Its been awhile. I took some food to the spot and we took our lab over there. My wife feels terrible and is busting her butt trying to make this right. City of Brentwood sent out an email for us. Signs are everywhere. He's just scared, hopefully. He got scared at home when people would visit, so out there he has to be in major defense mode. Dude is fast. Hope he is able to use his speed when necessary.

Appreciate it. Not watching my boys run around the house playing chase and ball is making my home dull. We need him. From 7-10 everynight is peak Lenny time for play and nothing but belly laughs from the boys. We are a tight family and that includes the pets.

man, this bums me out
we are a pet family, and I can totally relate to the dog and kids, when we come home our dogs don't go outside until they see the kids come in from the car/garage

hope you find him

Last time to offer to dig sit this pos Brittany. That as hole has destroyed plants, broken shizz and whined all weekend. Not to mention making my labs life miserable. 3 pm can't get here quick enough.

Sparty, I hope you get your dog back.

Its been a long day. Still no calls. No sightings. No body. No buzzards. Walking and driving around to try and find a dead body or look for signs is mentally taxing for everyone. I covered some pretty good thick woods today on foot. I started on the opposite end of where he last was seen going in and worked back. Just picked off about the 30th tick, but I got through.
I now hope to get news one way or the other so we can move on. Then again, supposedly terriers like this have the survival skills of a ninja at times. I don't know what to think or do obviously. Why hope if he's already dead. Then I get a call from a good friend that is a pretty big name in the dog world and he tells me that a dog like that in this area could hide out for a month before deciding its time. Its possible he is dead. And its possible he has set up camp somewhere and laying low and sleeping during the day while keeping on the move at night with night predators.
Thanks for the place to rant. Not a lot of words being shared in my home right now.

Sparty I really hope the best for finding your dog. Im a pet owner myself and understand how much our pets mean to us. Buddy, I swear if we knew each other I would be out there with you helping you search everyday.

Thanks. I know others realize how they would feel. I know others realize I know there are much worse things and many people going through much worse. I have perspective. But it doeant mean it doesn't suck, and the ugly pics I have in my head don't help.
We have had a lot of help and a lot of people looking out. Unlike my labs, no way this dog would go up to anyone and will probably run from us if we see him.

Thought about you this afternoon Sparty. Wondered if we could switch "shoes", would I.

I really don't know.
