I take Arlo out to the park a lot. I throw frisbee and he watches. I really like how he relates to people when we're out and about. He will walk up to the one person not going bonkers over how cute he is and howl at them like a big dog. It always elicits a laugh and never gets old. He has a whole range of noises he makes for different things. There's an "ardl, ardl, ardl, ardl" thing he does when he wants me to feed him human food, "glowl, glowl, glowl," when he wants to go out, he makes the saddest sound in the history of the world when he's in the bedroom and people are here. He kind of sings, "lo lo lo lo lo lo", followed by some pitiful whines....
A lady was carrying a kitten around the other day at the park, so he starts going apepoop when he sees it, and just has to meet it. The kitten was about 7 weeks old and kind of shy. I pick Arlo up and he licks it on the face twice and howls the sweetest little howl, to which the kitten returned a meow. There were a bunch of people watching and it was a total "aaawwwwww"-fest for the girls.
Oh, he is such a good little dude, and so smart. When his food bowl is empty, he picks it up, carries it into the living room and tosses it at me and lets out one single, serious "ruff!".
My favorite thing he does, is when he takes a hacky sack or a tiny tennis ball and brings it to someone to try to get them to extract it from his teeth. He will howl at them with the ball or hacky sack in his mouth. Funniest thing I've ever seen a dog do. Then we you try to get the ball, he starts growling at you and holds on for dear life, including being dragged across the floor.
I still laugh every day at his antics.
