Does Wilcox get a pass?

Wilcox will do great, once the personnel gets into place. I like Chaney. I think he just needs a good QB, Tyler Bray, to get the most out of his offense.

A good QB makes all the difference. With Bray coming back next year, I would try to hold the staff to gether as much as possible. If anything, the program can use the stability.

Not many teams have success after 2 coaching changes in 2 years against our schedule. Chizik had some success last year but not against tough opponents. Saban struggled when he got to Ala. We are headed in the right direction and Baggett made a comment about their evaluation of recruiting prospects that I like. He said they are looking at how players fit into what they are trying to do. This is very important to our success, imo.

GO VOLS!!

IS the OP crazy???...Of course Wilcox gets a pass...this defense has held there own against some of the best offenses in the nation (i.e. Oregon, Alabama, OREGON) until they just were physically done for...give him an off season of conditioning and player development and our D will be GREAT!!!!
OP agrees with you.
The negative tone was used to get a jump on the 'Fire Wilcox' junkies and get some positive responses.

I was high on Wilcox when he came here. Like many of you I've been disappointed. Excuses of talent and depth aside, game preparation and strategy has been lacking at best. Does he get a pass if he can prepare this defense to win out?

Yes He gets a pass.

He has no dts so yes he gets a pass no matter what happens this year.

Hard to gauge the D when there are about 6 legit SEC caliber players on the two deep.

Look at how the Oregon game or Bama games started. That was a good scheme that was executed well. However, Tennessee ran out of talented bodies as the game wore on.
Out of curiosity, which guys do you think are SEC caliber, and do you mean right now or talent wise? I think some of the younger guys that aren't there at the moment have the ability to get there.

Of the kids coming in next year, do you think we have any possible first year impact players. I've heard maybe Randolf. Hard to predict, I know but any other possibles?

It is not Wilcox's fault that he has only one legit SEC DT, one legit SEC safety and no legit SEC corners and questionable LBs.

First year they all get a pass. Still have concerns and will vocalize frustration at times but in the end. They get a pass.

I think all UT coaches get a pass this year and a partial pass next year. It's hard to implement a new offense or defense when you have players you didn't recruit for that type of offense or defense. Not to mention our lack of depth at basically every position and having to play freshman or sophomores everywhere.

Does Wilcox get a pass?

Guess that all depends on who is doing the grading....in my book he does, at least until he gets some more depth/talent in here.

IMO all the coaches get a pass this year and next. They are a minimum of 2 recruiting classes away from being competitive in the SEC talentwise, probably more like 3. The offense will get there faster because that's were most of our talent is right now, but both sides are nowhere near the talent level of a good SEC team.
