Two programs, both with a rich tradition. Both recently had coaching changes. I don't like R-Rod but his history shows him to be a good coach. He got to Michigan and was astounded by the lack of talent. I am afraid that we are in the same situation. Dooley is a good coach but lack of talent might end him before he begins.

I feel like Rich Rod lucked out at West Virginia with Pat White and Steve Slaton. Both arguably the fastest at their position in college football at the time. Definitely top five or ten.

I see what you are saying. Part of the problem was this: Rich-Rod has totally different schemes (on both O & D). Carr ran a basic pro-style offense, and a 4-3 D. Rich runs a run-spread offense and a 3-3-5 D. What helps UT is that they aren't changing schemes dramatically. Rich Rod has to bring in his own players because he runs such a different system, while Dooley runs the same thing as Kiffin.

RR leaving WVA was one EPIC blunder---his style does not fit Michigan. And to think; Rod could have gone to BAMMER!!!! DAM why couldn't we have been that lucky??? :banghead2::banghead2:

I still think Rodriguez can be successful at Michigan, but obviously not as confident as when he was first hired. Remember, he runs a totally different type of program than Carr. Change like that take a couple years.

No, I think Rich Rodriguez is to West Virginia is to what Lane Kiffin is to Tennessee ... left alot of drama behind both of their programs ... but I believe in the end Tennessee is in a lot better shape than Michigan ...

Rich Rod got away from everything Michigan was. Completely diffrent O and no D. I think the Vols are on their way back and MI is still down, proably going to be a longer recovery for them

Tennesee has talent, but not depth. Chaney is still at ut from last year too, so it's not like everything is being overhauled.

rich should have stayed at w v u. he had it made there for the next 20 years !! i like rich, but he followed the money and now after this season, he probably will have a lot of time to count it all !!. on a side note bill lewis had better win 10 games this year at w v u or he's out of there !! :rock::popcorn:

RR could have stayed at WVU and had statues just from what he accomplished before he left. Now he's the most hated man in the state, and he's headed that way at UM in short order without a BCS bowl type of year.

We're also alot closer to the best recruiting states and still have Lance Thompson's recruiting/coaching.

Michigan could be going through a coaching change in a few months, I don't think Tennessee will. Dooley should get 2-3 years at least.

I think an even better comparison to Tennessee is Nebraska.

Successful coach is let go, bring in an Oakland Raiders coach who shuns the traditions of the university and leaves the program in a mess.

And then Pelini has that program turned around quite nicely....I do see us being more like Nebraska than Michigan....unfortunate for them, I don't think they've hit rock bottom yet...they will probably end up having a new coach next year

No comparison. Rich Rod is a cheater getting exposed. We lost a cheater and are headed in the right direction. Don't worry and GBO!!!

I just ran a VLookup in Excel and UT definitely doesnt = Michigan! Everybody can go back to your lazy sunday!!

Another thing to consider: If Michigan does can Rich-Rod, they have an immediate replacement...Jim Harbaugh. If Dooley is canned in two-three years, I don't know who will take the place of Dooley.

As a Michigan fan I can say that I believe Tennessee is in much better shape. I hated the RR hire and still dont like enjoy the man. I really want Jim Harbaugh with truckloads of money. I want Michigan football back.

I think Michigan is and for two reasons:

1) They aren't on their third coach in three years. Yes, Rich-Rod has been bad so far, but he finally has his players for his system.

2) Michigan is in the Big Ten. The only mainstays of the last five years in the conference have been Ohio Sucks and Wisconsin. It would be a lot easier to get back to the top than in the SEC. That is why I think Michigan is in better shape.

Probably right, but he would definately have the program on probation with heavy sanctions before his tenure would have been up. Hell, he's not even at WVU and the program is in trouble for stuff he did while here.
I have a lot of friends that are close to the WVU program up here, and know RR personally, the man is of low class and character, period!!

And it's Bill Stewart (not sure how he spells it), not lewis. He does not have to win 10 this year, he'll be there for awhile, even tho many don't like him.

Nonsense. He knows where the recruits are and they are fixin to see how he coaches.

Michigan = Tennessee?
The last time these teams met, were they equal?
