This was a debate on the 247 board so I thought I would bring it to volnation. With Rivera and Bartholomew Graduating, and Clear getting dissmissed, that leaves Downs and Meredith for next year. They needed one anyway, but with the loss of Cam Clear, and Coach Chaney loving the Two Te sets I think They need at least Two. So I think they take Weaver for run Blocking Purposes to fill in for clear and I think they take Wilson for Receiving purposes, but do they have room for two TE in this class.

IMO, they take two. I'm sure they would like to find a JUCO TE that could step in and play next year. However I don't know if there are any JUCO prospects out there that fit the mold they are looking for.

There is also a TE from Lenoir City who is a teammate of Camion Patrick named Lucas Hamilton who is camping in july will be interesting if they offer him as well. If they take him then they play weaver at DE then and our two TE are Wilson and Hamilton

no. take one and convert someone over. we need too many other positions filled. if we do not have any transfers, flunk outs or other things, we can only sign about 20. you never know, may not lose any to these things. by the way, how will we use 2 tight ends with 3 wideouts ? that leaves the blocking 5 and a qb. of course, one is in the slot, but--- no fullback ? can't see it.

i will add this to my above statement. if it is a passing down, then yes we probably go to the 2 tight end set.

If the Coaches convert someone would Channing Fuggate move back to fulback and play the role that Ben Bartholomew played this year? Or would Alden Hill be a good one to add in that position since some peope had him penciled in at FB

This is Dooleys favorite lineup.

I think we will sign over 20

that being said if we can only do 20 - that means we have 8 spots left - not that i expect everyone we have now to stay - but we would likely over-recruit the same position so the positions would likely be close

of those 8 i would expect 1 RB, 2 OL, 2 TE, 1WR, 1 DT, 1 DE

if we get to 22 which i think is more likely then we would see 1 more LB and 1 more TE - 1 of those TE's could be used as a FB/TE combo

Does anyone know exactly how many scholarships we actually have open at this time? I know others may open up later, but at one time, I thought we had less than 20 available.

good ? - I think with attrition I saw a poster that typically knows what they are talking about guess around 22 for this upcoming class which is why I used that number

I think we have 13 seniors and are 2 short on scholly's so may have as few as 15 spots assuming everyone qualifies from this class and there is no attrition

I thought I saw on here a few days ago the number for 2013 signing at 28 since we didn't sign a full class.

that # would not take into account that we can't get over 85 total scholly's - once you take that into account there are no where close to 28 spots unless a lot of kids leave the program after the Fall

I read something to the effect that Croom could bulk up and play TE instead of WR and be another Vernon Davis. Have you heard that anywhere?

82 are on scholarship right now:
-13 are Seniors
-9 are Redshirt Juniors
-Three true Juniors are likely to have an NFL-draftable grade after the season
-Some underclassmen are being recruited over and will never see the field
-Some clowns don't take the classroom seriously
-There are busts

If there was no attrition, they could take 16. I'm pretty sure that there will be some attrition. Tennessee has the ability to take 28 if they have at least 3 early enrollees. Not saying they would, but they could.*

And to the OP, I really don't think they'll go for two TE this class. Too many bodies already on the team that can handle the position.

Umm, fullbacks have become almost non-existent in college and pro football over the last decade. Besides goal line and short distance sets the fb is rarely used.
