It is an injustice during a worldwide pandemic, the kid wants to be closer to home by his family and play with his brother. Should be case closed right there. Then add the case his dad has and toxic culture, should have been a no brainer. The NCAA sucks. So does Sankey who may be undermining this.I'm not near as ticked off about this situation since I learned that the SEC practically never allows a non-graduate transfer to transfer within the conference without sitting out a year. I think it's dumb, I hope we win the appeal, but it's not the injustice I originally thought.
I don't disagree that all kids should be able to transfer at least once without sitting but even Pruitt said it last year with DeAngelo Gibbs, you transfer within the conference, generally you sit a year, if you are not a grad transfer. I originally didn't understand that aspect of it. I originally thought "well, hey this guy gets a waiver and this guy doesn't, it's all arbitrary" but after looking at it a little more, my original reaction isn't true, the SEC has not really allowed non-graduates to transfer within the conference without sitting a year. That's been pretty consistent even if we think there are good reasons it shouldn't be so. We all want him to play this year, but if he doesn't he'll be extra salty next year.It is an injustice during a worldwide pandemic, the kid wants to be closer to home by his family and play with his brother. Agree, but as I understand, the NCAA is the one who denied him playing, not the SEC.I don't disagree that all kids should be able to transfer at least once without sitting but even Pruitt said it last year with DeAngelo Gibbs, you transfer within the conference, generally you sit a year, if you are not a grad transfer. That information has not been made public that I know of, but if you look back, it's been consistent, that if you are a non-graduate SEC player and you transfer within the conference, you sit a year. It's hard to believe that track record for SEC players transferring to other SEC schools doesn't trace back to the SEC office. Maybe it all changes with Cade though, I hope so.Agree, but as I understand, the NCAA is the one who denied him playing, not the SEC.
I didn't think schools could block anymore, just the NCAA or the conference's. I thought schools could make their opinion known but they don't have to "sign off" anymore like the old days.Absolutely no one knows. It falls on any combo of the ncaa, Kirby, and Sankey. It basically has to get past all 3. Tough...
2 separate issues. Correct on transfers, no longer have say. But they do on residency waivers. The previous school's position is one of the 3 factors important to the decision. Kids can transfer wherever they want, doesn't mean they will circumvent the 1 year residency rule.I didn't think schools could block anymore, just the NCAA or the conference's. He tried to transfer before the pandemic so it’s a weak argument. It is an injustice during a worldwide pandemic, the kid wants to be closer to home by his family and play with his brother. Happens all the time when in coaching changes.Probably reason #1 from the view 120 miles out of Knoxville.
I want Cade and he should be able to transfer for reasons beyond the pandemic in my opinion. Just saying he can’t use the pandemic as the excuse since he transferred prior to the pandemic. Its a damn worldwide pandemic, look at it has affected families and students. It should be a no brainer if you give a damn about your student athletes which ncaa clearly does not.
